That isn't even close for Werenski. This is Frederic's first full season in the NHL and since he was a 1st rd pick in 2016 its to soon to trade him. The Wings are still think Cholowski can make it and he is in the same draft class. I'm not sure why you'd trade for Frederic in the first place with Bertuzzi, Zadina, Vrana, Fabbri, and even Svechnikov had more points than Frederic in half the games. Plus Berrgren had a great season in the SHL he was in the top 10 in scoring and has a very good chance making the team out of camp. Detroit also has Raymond who we probably won't see until the end of the season but it is likely Detroit resigns Ryan who also had more points is less games than Frederic as well. Now Frederic could turn in to a great player but Detroit really doesn't need another winger especially with big holes at center and LD. Fabbri at center he had his shot and he just isn't an NHL center. At this point with both shoulders repaired and McIsaac skating again I'd hold off on that trade and save the pick. Detroit won't be a playoff team next season so why give up 2 assets for one player. Thinking you can speed up a rebuild by trading multiple assets for veteran players is what puts you into the never ending rebuild. Two things Yzerman mentions in every interview he does: Patience and getting more draft picks.
