No you enable them by making it the rangers fault, you can't blame panarin for not being able to take repeated sucker punches because they aren't part of the game, nor should they be

Who in God's name is blaming Panarin? He tried to help his teammate and almost got killed for it. The blame is first on management, for not having anyone on the roster to deal with a POS like Wilson, and secondly on the other players that did NOTHING once Wilson came back into the game. You watch your best player get assaulted and do NOTHING? Disgusting.

No question it was an assault and Wilson should get a very long suspension in my opinion, but that does not relieve Ranger players of doing NOTHING in response to what he did. This is hockey. It's a physical sport that does not make fighting illegal. If someone cheap shots your teammate or assaults one of your stars, especially one HALF HIS SIZE, it is on the players first and foremost to respond. The Ranger players did NOTHING. Prior to Quinn as coach, its was the same with Ryan McDonagh getting cheap shot all the time and even Hank getting run by Cody Eakins, and they did NOTHING. I thought Quinn wanted that to change.....but guess I was wrong. It's just the same old thing....cheap shot our players and we will hope the league takes care of it. This is a mind set that condemns the Rangers from ever being a cup team. Imagine is Wilson had done that to Matt Barzel. You think the Islanders would wait for the league to handle it? I don't....and that's a big reason they kicked the Rangers collective asses the last two games and a reason they have a legit shot at the cup.

A Kassian trade could help. I’d honestly sign Rinaldo simply to take runs at guys if this is the crap we’ve gotta deal with. I don’t care how good they are at hockey, but they need to get nastier and harder to play against. This skill crap isn’t gonna get us anywhere by itself. Bogosian or Oleksiak could be a solid add to the d core because we can’t just have small timid guys back there.

honest question - how many teams in the league have someone to deal with Wilson? the guy is a farm animal and a disgrace to the game, "management" isn't building a roster to deal with one player...

I'm sure the $5k fine Wilson got will really make him twice about doing this again. This is what happens when you leave it to the league.

What are they building? Did you watch the Isles manhandle them the past three games they played? The isles 4th line runs over them like men vs boys. They are building a soft team that can out skill other soft teams but has no shot against big, physical teams. Last night it was Ranger 3 and Caps 2 when Wilson pulled his crap. Afterwards, the Caps picked up the physicality and the Rangers went back on their heels and looked like they did vs the isles again and the result...a 6-3 Caps win. In essence, Wilson got to punch Buch while he was down, rag doll and hurt Panarin and the Caps win the game, and all it cost was $5k. Not a bad deal for Wilson and the Caps. Yeah....who needs a player or players to deal with Wilson......golf is just as much fun as making the playoffs.

Overreacting to your best player, who is maybe 180 pounds, being rag dolled and injured by Tom Wilson, and NOBODY did anything about it. That's the kind of reaction a Dan Girardi would have while he watched Rinaldo jump Gaborik and beat on his head for a while. No big deal, right? Who is next, Mika? Laffy? Kakko? But, it's no big deal I guess.

LOL. The league is at fault for enabling this asshole, but they won't stop him, so what is your answer? Just take it from Wilson and complain that the league should do more? Maybe Wednesday night the Rangers should apologize to Wilson as well for saying hurtful things about him and ask him nicely to play nice.

you completely miss the point and didn't answer the question. Wilson is the exception, not the rule.
having toughness and having a player to defend against Wilson are two different things.
GM's aren't sitting around telling themselves they need to sign a goon because their team plays washington 4 times a year.
things are different if Trouba and Lindgren were in the lineup.

first off it was panarin who tried to break things up, the matter of the fact is, even if lemieux was on the team he wouldn't have been on the ice so no one was gonna do anything unless trouba or lindgren were on.

They're a young team... (the youngest team) just because they lose to good teams doesn't mean they're soft or bad, theyre inexperienced, the rangers were never gonna win the cup this year, did they contend, yes but their window hasn't opened and they've got tough guys for their 4th line coming. Barron already looks good, Cuyle on the way, and Edstrom as well.

In the team I proposed, who is the goon? Lucic, Lowry and Oleksiak are all good hockey players that do more than fight. That's not a goon. Those are players that would respond in real time to a POS like Wilson. THAT IS THE POINT.

If Lemieux were on the bench, my bet is he would have been waiting for Wilson when his penalty was up. A year or so ago when Wilson challenged the Rangers entire bench, who was it that went after him, and held his own in the fight? LIndgren is a good hockey player and glad we have him, but he would be a punching bag for Wilson. Trouba could hold his own and would step up. Bottom line is this....without players on the roster that can respond to this kind of stuff, the Rangers have ZERO shot at winning a cup. All talent and no grit = golf during the playoffs.

It isn't that they lose to good teams, its HOW they lose. The Isles walked all over them by playing physical, in your face hockey all game. They hit them all night and put them back on their heels and the rangers had no response. I don't care that they lost and didn't make the playoffs. What I do care about is this....no matter how old or experienced this group gets, they will always be beaten by a physical, in your face team. Without getting some gritty players, that hit and are willing to stand up to a Tom Wilson, they have ZERO shot at a cup. The intensity only ramps up in the playoffs, and if the Rangers players shrink from the physical play during the season, how can they win a playoff series? They won't be playing Buffalo and the Devils in the playoffs.

My point is they do... just because they have injuries was the only reason they didn’t have a guy who could step up last night

Trouba is a physical guy that can handle himself, but he's not a real heavyweight fighter, and Lindgren is physical but has no clue how to fight. I don't want to see him fighting because he will just get rocked. They need a guy or guys like Marcus Foligno or Zack Kassian that can play hockey and do the heavy lifting when a guy like Wilson does what he did.
