Make that trade with Philly for Nolan Patrick instead of a throwaway draft pick so Buffalo actually gets something out of it. McCabe probably gets three years $3 million, but if you’re trading Ristolainen away there really isn’t much reason to keep McCabe either. Vegas is in win now mode, they don’t make that trade, Nice idea though. Instead, use that pick to draft a player that will be here in two years making an impact. Beniers, Eklund, or Guenther hopefully.

The thought with the Vegas trade is a cap move and they draft Power who would be a cheap top 4 LHD to help them on their next couple of runs. Glass is thier 4LC for the foreseeable future and Tuch is a middle six winger so Vegas does not lose much to get that.

Toss in the fact he is on a great contract and he is producing better than anyone in buffalo (outside of Reinhart and Eichel) it makes it a pretty easy no.
