Hyman is worth more than that deal, yes.
But I've heard Hyman is already wealthy, and he's been very clear from the beginning of his career he only wants to play in Toronto. If anyone is taking a discount, it's Hyman (and Spezza by the way. He's done it the last 2 years and again is already wealthy). There are other factors to consider besides simply how good or important to the team a player is.

Who knows, he deserves that much but not sure he'll get it because of the leafs cap situation. I could be wrong. He very well could want 5+ from the leafs. Personally I'd give him up to 6 mil.
