NIce, but I assume that Price won't be on LTIR and that Seattle will take Allen. If that's the case, the Canadiens would be better off not signing Barrie, Stastny or Coleman and instead going with Cale Fleury, Evans and Byron.

Not remotely close for Couturier. I think you'd have to add for Gaudreau. The Columbus one is interesting, but if I were you I would keep Suzuki instead of handing Werenski his huge deal (or watch him file for arbitration and then walk to UFA)

Really interesting and dynamic AGM

I wish there were more posts on here like this

Minor qualm: one of the snipers has to be opposite Gaudreau there (why not toffoli) and the playmaking burden is too heavy on Danault there

Major qualm: golly they're giving up a lot of their future for one big run given the UFA-1 status of those two and seems to be somewhat odd timing for that

Devil's advocate against major qualm: this team is definitely prepared for a deep cup run with Coots still underrated and forward depth out the whazoo etc.

Are you saying 1 year of retained couturier is worth way more than effectively four 1st round picks?

*brain turns into goop* 🥴

I mean it's easy to make the case he's one of the most valuable hockey players alive (that's right folks) but

😐

Some offer less for 5 years of Eichel lol

Just because someone was drafted years ago in the first round, doesnt mean they hold that value.

Otherwise let me offer you kyle okposo, zemgus girgensons, Riley Sheahan and Cody Eakin for your best player 50% retained

Just because people make terrible trades for one player, doesnt mean other terrible trades for other players are good.

also, what are you talking about 4 first round picks? Jordan Harris was a 3rd round pick.

Montreal rejects the CBJ and Philly trade. Price will not be on LTIR and most of those UFA's will make/want more money

Montreal has been waiting for a 1C for 2.5 decades, I doubt they would give up Suzuki so quickly. They probably just see if one of Romanov, Norlinder, Ghule, Struble or Harris can fill that 1 LHD hole first.

The Gaudreau trade seems ok but it is a lot to give up for basically a rental. Maybe Drouin + 1st would be max as his value will be low considering he is rumored to want to go home in FA.

Again too much to give up for a rental who could leave in FA at the end of the year, also I doubt Montreal moves Romanov so quickly especially after the whole Sergachev for Drouin situation.

As for the FA signings, Berrie is better in the Western Conference, Statsney is ok but Evans and Poehling are younger and can fill that 4C hole at a fraction of the cost. Yelonen is better than Lewis, cheaper and is almost half his age. Also why not just resign Lehkonen for cheaper than Coleman?

Wouldn't do the Columbus trade personally but Werenski would definetly have that value.

Think Calgary asks for more, depends on thier opinion of Ylonen though.

That's to much to give up for Coots, love the player but rather keep the futures instead of have him for one year and walk

Wouldn't give that much

I think his point is that, after retention, you’d be getting a 1C nearly-PPG player.

The value is the fact that PHI got him under what may be, after David Pastrnak, the most team-friendly deal in the NHL.

You surely must realize that no one is going to pay a handsome price for Drouin right now.

I am saying its a horrible trade for Philly, not for Montreal. Its a steal for that pile of stuff.
