Everything is relative - this only holds true for a team with solid goaltending.

How is the North weaker than the West or central? Vancouver or Calgary could make the playoffs in those divisions. Apart from the top 2 teams in the west and 3 in the central there are no good teams. The North isn't weak. They are the 2nd deepest division.

Cool, last time I checked it’s the top 4 teams from each into the playoffs, then the winners of the divisions play final 4. So not sure why having a ‘deep’ division matters. I’m giving you your division which isn’t even a given. So your comment about the top 2 teams in west 3 in central doesn’t hold much weight.

The point is, the North has far more depth than the central making TO's competition harder. Sure we don't have to play Tampa but we don't get to dummy Detroit, Columbus, Chicago, Dallas and Nashville all who would be Ottawa level bad.
