8M$ for RNH

😳

In this economy

Literally

Makes it all the more 😑 to see the crazy low Dahlin bridges like if you switched their situations Rasmus would outscore RNH this year despite positional

Not too far behind currently

Dahlin 20 points RNH 29

Hard pass from Detroit. We're not taking cap dumps off your hands for free. Try removing Svechnikov and adding 2 very high assets and then we're in the ballpark.

Overpay on all the signings, and Oilers need an upgrade in net. At least somone on par with Smith. Elliot is terrible.

MTL is interesting, seems their fans are ready for him to go and getting some nice picks could be good asset management(not going to comment on value but I like the move)

NYR isn’t good for 21-22 but is very interesting long term. I think I take it from a management point of view. As a fan I don’t want to sell when we are competing in 21-22

DET... as stated above... way off. Kosk has negative value with his contract/play. He came into the league as an old G and now lacks potential upside in most people’s eyes. Gotta pay to move him

Nah, that’s just the vocal/idiotic minority. The habs aren’t moving Drouin.

Russel makes just over a mil next season.. at that cap he has positive value... And he would probably play 20+ mins in DET. Koskinen is better then both Goalies DET currently has... And has 1 year left. Svechnikov is absolute bust. EDM is giving you more value then what they are getting in return..... Nice try.

I would say almost all of those FA signings are over payed tbh. Everyone says no to those trades but as Oilers fan ii say no because there are better options at those prices.

Which one is on the dumpster fire of a team?
Goalie A - 3.08 GAA, .908 SV%
Goalie B - 3.09 GAA, .903 SV%

Multiple FA goalies this offseason id rather go after than Koskinen also. Russell costs 1.25M next year, you can bury him and just eat most of the costs. Detroit doesn’t need a bottom pairing shot blocker, they’re a dime a dozen in FA. What they need a is a legit top 4 guy and good luck trying to sell Russell as one. So yeah, Detroit doesn’t do this.

You are delusional. Real dollars ≠ cap. Also, Russell is garbage. He has a -2 xGF and will be 35 next season. Koskinen has a -4.6 GSAx. Bernier has been way better this season at a -3.3 GSAx and is cheaper at that. If you like Russel and Koskinen so much, keep them.

I’d like to see Drouin on the oilers but that’s steep price to pay not confident enough to pay that.
I would hate to see Edmonton give up more good assets to being strome back already been down that road already lost two trades involving him.
Moving Russell is just unrealistic coaching staff and team seems to really like him and is on a very decent contract for next year well worth holding onto.

DET currently doesn’t care to win, no other team would consider taking Kosk. Therefore DET would be doing EDM a mountain of a favour by bailing you out of that contract which will cost you dearly. If You’re so high on Kosk then keep him. Don’t piss on people and tell them it’s rain...

Due to the Smith injury and Holland mis-handling the 3rd goalie / waiver wire thing early in the year, Koskinen was forced to play 12 games in 24 days - a workload that not even the best in the league can handle. Of course his numbers suffered in that span, anybody's would. But with proper rest and practice time such as playing 50% of the games, he's an elite goalie. Like this:

2019-20: .917 sv% - 6th in the league among the 30 goalies that played at least 35 games, tied with Vasilevskiy
2021 to Feb 7: .889 sv% - at this point he'd played 709 minutes, the only other guy over 600 was John Gibson at 603 - not even close
2021 Feb 8 on: .925 sv% - 9th in the league among 60 goalies to play 9 games or more

LOL. Russell is only the ALL-TIME LEADER in blocked shots per 60, and 2nd ALL-TIME for total blocked shots. He's on track to take over 1st place by the end of this season. But yeah, dime-a-dozen.

Did I say anywhere that I’d be trading Svechnikov + for a top 4 defensemen? Multiple ways to get a guy outside of a trade surely you know this. tears of joy

I can understand workload lowering stats but surely you understand icing our team is going to lower stats. Goes both ways. Could also be team structure, Smith looks pretty good but wasn’t great leading up to that. It’s why some goalies look good on some teams and bad on others.

Can you show me where there’s a direct correlation with blocked shots and quality of defensemen? Multiple facets to the game but cherry picking stats with no direct correlation is an interesting argument. If he’s so valuable why isn’t a top 4 defensemen on Edmonton? There’s a good appeal to authority argument for you. He’s not a dime a dozen defensemen if I’m arguing I need blocked shots to win a fantasy category.

You're acting like you can't accept this offer cause it would block your quest for a top-4 defenseman. It wouldn't, and Russell can play in the top-4 in a pinch anyhow. He's playing 34.7% of his TOI vs Elites (more than any Detroit defender) and owns an 8-5 goal differential in those minutes - having allowed just 1.6 GA/60. Overall his 1.76 GA/60 ranks 18th best in the league among 153 defensemen that have played at least 500 minutes at 5v5. He's one of the best shutdown guys in the league. Edmonton isn't about to give him away for nothing this summer as he's signed for next year at just $1.25M.

The Wings allow 30.54 SA/60 at 5v5, Koskinen has faced 31.22 so far this year.
The Wings allow 2.15 xGA/60 at 5v5, Koskinen has faced 2.32 so far this year.
Detroit also allows fewer SCA/60 and fewer HDCA/60 than Edmonton too. Koskinen's numbers should actually improve in Detroit.

When did I say anything about it blocking an acquisition of a top 4 d? I merely commented on a poster that provided a comment with no context and still has yet to chime in. I’d hope his % TOI (versus elites however that’s defined) is higher. Lower TOI heavily favors % so that stat is catered toward 3rd pairing defensive guys.

That’s a minimal difference in shot attempts, nothing to write home about. xGA is extremely dicey as each arena tracks danger shots differently and distance. You’re also using aggregated data as Bernier has outperformed Greiss.

I brought up shot blocking because that’s what he’s good at. Like i said shot blocking third pair d which you keep saying. smirk

I've been busy... I'm sure I don't need to add any context now... Regardless, I'm happy with both players and prefer to have them in the team next year. Svech brings no value to the Oilers. Obviously would benefit EDM to use Koskis cap and roster position for a younger goalie in FA but he's still a good goalie for 1 more year.

That last sentence is precisely why Detroit doesn’t do it. Getting younger to fit our core, and a 33 year old goalie doesn’t accomplish that.
