Man I don't understand why everyone thinks Rielly is so amazing. Here's a list of Canadian D who are better:
Chychrun
Girard (WAY better)
Ellis
Chabot
Nurse
Honestly, I could go into a whole rant as to why I picked Rielly but the truth is that I am splitting hairs between him and guys like Ellis.
Chycrun, Chabot and Girard are still very young so when you pick your bubble players you typically take the older guy. Nurse has had a good year, but is benefiting from playing on the Oilers without Klefbom this year. He has no business on this team.
Ellis is the closest comparable to Rielly and I contemplated putting him on this team. Looking at the stats (and the eye test) Rielly is much better on the breakout when making the first pass. That will be very important as the strategy should be to get the puck to the forwards and sit back. Ellis also averages more defensive zone giveaways, but it is close..
Ellis plays a little more PK than Rielly, but Rielly still plays the PK and at the end of the day this would be about 3% of the game at best..
A cool stat I also found was that rielly averages a +10 PIM differential per 82 games over the last three seasons where as Ellis averages -9 meaning he is taking 9 more penalties than he draws...
Like I said, at the end of the day we are really splitting hairs..
