I would definitely move Drouin and retain Tatar. I doubt Lehky would take over a 50% discount, that is a huge pay cut. And Ouellet is so bad he is not even in the top 6 in Laval.

Well as a paid scout that gets paid actual real money to watch the AHL games, I have watched every Laval game twice this season. Leskinen runs the #1 PP and plays in the 1 hole. Schueneman, plays the #2 PP and is Leskinen's partner in the 2 hole.

Olofsson, had to leave for the birth of his son, then went on the Taxi squad while Laval was out West, but when he is available, he plays in the 3 hole. Josh Brook is on the PP and PK and plays in the 4 hole on the 2nd pairing.

Tobie Bisson is a solid shut down D, plays on the PK and plays in the 5 hole on the 3rd pair. Cale Fleury plays on the PK and is in the 6 hole.

Ouellet has the worst stats of those six D. It is no secret he is not that good. Joel and Dom were both coached by Xavier's father and Dom and Xavier's father later coached together. Trust me Ouellet is not that good and he got some mileage because he knows those two guys. To be fair, Ouellet has played better at the NHL level than he has at the AHL level.

Montreal is NOT trading for Deangelo and if they do I will lose a lot of respect for an organization built on integrity! Trading for a racist piece of crap like Deangelo is the last thing they need to do.

I agree but based on Montreal needs in defense, which is a quick puck moving D, Deangelo would be a perfect fit, but his previous antics would make him tough to insert in a team

I agree but with the philosphy that Bergevin is implimanting a rebuild is not the main option at the moment

There are 3 to 5 teams that would be interested in Drouin. He has value and would do better outside a Canadian market.

I think there would be interest, but he offers would be underwhelming, somthing like a 3rd + salary retention from Montreal' side,

wow that is a very good question. Schwartz is 2 yrs younger. He is a touch better defensively. Tuna has more gino's, but Schwartz has more apples. Both are above the curve for NHL forwards in terms of overall productivity, with Schwartz having slightly better averages.

So both are good, I would give Schwartz the nod but would he gel with Danault & Gally, if not him, then who? because those 3 are really good 5on5.

Both D are different. Brook is more polished with offensive flair. Fleury, will be a hard hitting D, that kills PK and plays on 3rd pairing, but he will not give you much offense. Brook, will become a very good AHL player. He projects to be a #4 RD. Will he replace Weber or Petry in 2 yrs and be as good? possible. He still needs more time in Laval and it would not hurt him to put on 8 to 12 pounds, which he can do in 2 yrs time.

I think you can get a 2nd pick. Or a 3rd and a 5th. He is not garbage. He skates really well. Drouin needs to be outside of a Canadian market and he will be better. Phil Kessel absolutely hated his time in Toronto. Not because he did not like the fans but because he did not like the constant fish in the aquarium syndrome.

ok, so it's more in the optic of filling role than be nhl ready, that's make a lot of sense, thank you smile

Well yes I guess one can say it is a loss. To play in MTL, you need a "I don't give a poop" mentality. Because the fans are unrealistic in their emotional responses from game to game. I will never forget sitting inside the Habs room, waiting to go eat with two of the players. This was in 2001. A father told his 10 year old son to pretend he had cancer to get an empty roll of tape from one of the players lockers. I did not say anything but I thought to myself, what parent would ever tell their kid to pretend to have cancer, just to get an empty roll of tape? not even a full roll?? that is when I realized some of the fans are over the top. It is no longer a game of hockey but some religious obsession.

With that said, Jo is a good player, he would simply do better outside a Canadian market, especially outside of Quebec. He cares too much and he is too much of a tender soul. It eats them up inside when things go wrong. So on paper it looked like a good trade but one of my degrees is in Counselling and I have a private practice. I knew Jo would not flourish in MTL for those reasons. But send him to Florida, Anaheim, Arizona and he will do better because the endorphins in his brain will be released more often, thus giving him more joy and less stress.

totally agreed, and this is a part of why i don't want drouin against us, but like you said, people like this dad are huhhhh, real pain to watch.

Rangers will just Buy Out Deangelo this Summer.

Costs much less than 50% retention, and a 5th Rounder isn't enough to sway the Rangers to take on extra money for no reason.

I think they would prefer that than stretch his contract for 3 years
