Draisaitl is so overrated. He's not even a point a game player with McDavid. One heater when McDavid was hurt last year and he got awards for it. He's not nearly as good as Matthews

And yet he is still apparently not as good as players he's absolutely better than. The 3 best players are McDavid followed by MacKinnon and Matthews. Then everyone else. Those 3 are just better than everyone else and it's not close.

The guy is good, I'll give Oiler fans that. And I like him as a player. But the better than Crosby, Matthews, MackInnon, Kane, et al conversation needs to stop.

That is absolutely wrong. How is the North worse than the West? Minnesota has a good record this year because beyond Vegas and Colorado, there isn't a team that would be outside the bottom 7 teams in the league. San Jose is almost in a playoff spot and are sub 500. The west is terrible beyond the top 3 teams. Same with the central. Three good teams and then garbage. Calgary and Vancouver would be playoff teams in the west and central. The North is the 2nd deepest division.

It’s the defenses of the teams in the north that suck. Winnipeg and Montreal’s d is rly inconsistent, Calgary’s should be good on paper but Calgary, Edmonton is meh, Ottawa is a train wreck defensively as is Vancouver. To top it all off, there’s like 3 good goalies in the north. It’s an absolute goalfest up there. All I’m saying is that I’d like him to produce like this (or close to it) another year before jumping the gun

You know damn well he would have had 50 last year and is on pace for more than that this year. This is why Matthews will be underrated, bitter fans of others teams can't live with a Leaf player being as good as he is so they'll make up reasons as to why some inferior player is better. It can't be argued anymore. Matthews is a generational talent. Draisaitl is barely a point a game player without McDavid. Take McDavid away from the Oilers and I doubt Draisaitl gets 35 goals and 75+ points.

You could say that same thing about Marner

The North has 4 teams in the top 15 GA/G. The east also has 4 teams in that and Calgary is 17th. The other two divisions don't have 4 teams in the top 15. So the notion that its an absolute goal fest is actually wrong. Yes Ottawa is bad but so is Philly. The west has 3 teams in the top 15, LA is 18th and the rest of the division is bottom 10 in GA/G. So if anything Matthews having more points than MacKinnon in less games this season is even more impressive. This is why is say he is underrated. He's a defensive beast there is loads of evidence to support that. He's the best goal scorer in the game right now and he's doing with with a bad wrist. He's in the 2nd best division as well and the numbers prove that. But still he's just a top 10 player because he just can't be as good as leaf fans say he is. He just can't be, why? Because people don't want him to be.

Borderline top 5 right now, for me at least. Like I said 4-7 are kind of a murky middle and pretty interchangeable. I agree that there r some people who don’t have him higher on a top 10 list just cuz people don’t like him, but I’m not one of those people

Yeah Marner is a good player but without Matthews he wouldn't be a top 10 scorer.
