Regarding ADA buyout...seems thats the way it's gonna go with him- but a point which most seem to overlook is the (just under 900K) cap hit in 2022...might seem small- but still not insignificant. Assuming Buch is extended there are gonna be big decisions ahead regarding Zibs and Strome. Would make sense to move either or both - and probably could get good value at next year TDL- but if they are in the play off mix next year (a good chance) they wont want to trade either. With several coming off ELCs (including Fox- who should be extended max term) 2022 is gonna be a big cap crunch. Better move with ADA might be to do nothing...2021 they have the cap space- just let his contract expire (Dolans can afford it)...if JG takes this approach I think there is a good chance ADA seeks to terminate the contract mid year so he can look to hook on with a team around January...he'd then get about 1/2 the 4.8M from NYR before he is sent to whatever place he finds to land. And w/o buyout, ADA wouldn't affect 2022 cap number.

A career .911 SV%, regressed the past four years and currently has a .902 SV% this year with .467 QS%. I’m not sure he’d be the target I’m after when guys like Ullmark are hitting FA and can be acquired just using cap space which Detroit has in spades.


How is this like the Grub deal? Grub in Washington had similar games played (101 vs 93) but also a .923 SV %.

Another recent comp could be Lehner to Buffalo, who a couple years younger (19-23) had 86 games played with a .914 SV for 21st overall. Change the pick to a lower one to account for the difference in performance and age. Even lower if you want ADA bought out.
