I'm not so sure you can put JT with that level of player. I get putting him at 3c to fill a role but Virtanen is god awful in fact I think he might get dealt for a bag of pucks.

Why would Seattle take Holtby though? Way better options for the draft

A few things:
1) Why is Seattle taking Holtby?
2) Are you sure Beagle is on LTIR? Because if not there goes your cushion
3) This team isn't good.
-Hoglander has had a solid rookie season, but he's scoring at about a 20 goal 35-40 point pace. That isn't really first line material.
-On your second line you have Podkolzin who has upside, but this year literally put up a third of a point per game in the KHL. Yes he's been pretty solid when playing against other juniors (not spectacular but solid), but pencilling him into NHL 2nd line duties and expect success seems like a huge over kill.
-On the other wing you have Pearson who has been like a 30 point player this year
-Motte is a fourth liner on the third line. Not awful, but given the rest of the offense, awful
-Virtanen is having a god awful year, can he rebound, I sure hope so for your team
-On D Juolevi in your top 4 is not good

Holtby is unlikely to get taken by Seattle, much more attractive options, that's another 4 mil, Beagle won't be on LTIR come next year that's another 3 mil, Hughes and Pettersson could very well demand more then that, that could be another 2 mil. That's 7-9 million extra then what you have accounted for here.

Looks like a lot of depending on players on ELCs to perform. that defense is awful. No we arent in cap hell, but if this team wants to make any sort of progress they have to be better and different than they are this season. You shouldnt be depending on Podkolzin to play big top 6 minutes right away. awesome if he does, but not sense putting tons of pressure on him right away

A few things:
1) Why is Seattle taking Holtby? -- Up in the air, they may not and then instead it might be Jake but there are options around all scenarios.
2) Are you sure Beagle is on LTIR? Because if not there goes your cushion. -- If he's not then I don't bring back Sutter for the 4C position and a Roussel buyout is always an option or not bringing back Edler.
3) This team isn't good. -- Disagree, are they immediately cup contenders.....no, but
-Hoglander has had a solid rookie season, but he's scoring at about a 20 goal 35-40 point pace. That isn't really first line material. -- Disagree. Hes doing that in his first year on a second line with little to no powerplay time, his point totals don't worry me.
-On your second line you have Podkolzin who has upside, but this year literally put up a third of a point per game in the KHL. Yes he's been pretty solid when playing against other juniors (not spectacular but solid), but penciling him into NHL 2nd line duties and expect success seems like a huge over kill. -- Disagree. He didn't have a great start in the KHL, but has shown up in the playoffs and is still only 19, I think he fits in nicely on that line.
-On the other wing you have Pearson who has been like a 30 point player this year.-- Agreed, but I'm not taking this year as a "This is who this player is"
-Motte is a fourth liner on the third line. Not awful, but given the rest of the offense, awful -- Agreed Motte is a very good fourth liner but hes quick, can check, and has the ability to score (see 2020 playoffs) I like giving him an opportunity here with Miller.
-Virtanen is having a god awful year, can he rebound, I sure hope so for your team. --Agreed and Me too
-On D Juolevi in your top 4 is not good
-- Up in the air, we haven't seen what he can do yet. In the small sample size this year he looked good, I think Vancouver has done a good job in developing him through all his injuries. He was drafted to be a top defense and now should be given a good look at the end of the season here

ITs true, Holtby may not be taken by Seattle. Who else do you go with Florida with Drieger, Maybe FLuery or Lehner fron Vegas ..MTL with Allen?? ... Maybe I still think Holtby is a strong contender to go there as the veteran netminder

If Beagle is off LTIR, again he becomes the 4C no Sutter, maybe a buyout on Rousell and Edler doesn't come back.

There is no way Petterson and Hughes get 9 mil for 3 years. Maybe if we are talking a long term somewhere between 6-8 years but no not for a 3 year term.

True. JT would still play powerplay and penalty kill and this way his minutes would be managed a bit better playing on the 3rd. I would be nice to slot in a 20 goal guy next to him but you can't tell me Motte and JT wouldn't be a tough matchup to play against.

Virt is taking lots of heat, as he should be, but i'm not making any long term descions based of this year (Except Demko, I like that deal). My hope would be to have Jake on his final year of the deal get back to that 20 goal guy. No sense selling low on him right now.

I meant 2 mil between the 2 of them so 1 mil each. I agree that for 3 years 7 mil is close to fair but if they want more term their caphit could go up.

While I agree it might not be cap hell their cap situation isn't great by any means, not to mention the team you have here doesn't look very good and I assume Van is looking to be a much better team next year but their cap struggles hurt that.

With the salary cap how it is, Isn't that the way of the NHL right now, you should be given guys on there ELCS a chance to perform. That's how your team gets better. Its what happened with Hughes, Petey, Brock and what looks like Hogelander.
The way the Canucks have drafted and developed in past years have allowed this team to jump up from the bottom of the league. They need to keep relaying on that instead of taking shots on free agents (which we have not done well in).

So next guys up Pod and Ollie (and hell Rathborn as well) help us make that next step.

First of JT needs to play with good players. He is just so good and makes so much happen. Virtanen's stock is low but it's just a failed project in Vancouver. We've seen he is a smart player and he is a dedicated player. Shipping him out would be a good thing regardless of what the return is.

Im not saying you shouldnt give them a chance ( i would like to see more rookies get a chance) but the last thing you want is to put tons of pressure to perform on your rookies. Need to develop them right and ease them in

Rathbone be nice although I think Olli is the priority this season which means it might take an injury to see him in the lineup. My bet is we don't see him. With quarantine rules plus the compact schedule plus only 15 games remaining they would need to bring him up now to even have a shot.

Lind is an interesting one although he would be grouped into what is now a large number of bottom 6 forwards.

I get that but for guys like this (high draft picks) what is the right way? All i'm saying is if they prove it in camp (like Hogelander, Hughes, Petey and Brock did) they deserve that shot.
