I’d probably switch Drouin to C, Kulak & Perry to RW, and Byron to RW.

We’ve been over my opinion before on Drouin. Perry would be nice to re-sign, but only if the money works, especially since he’s getting up there in age. Kulak has been meh when not playing with Petry, and I’d be perfectly fine if we had to move him especially since he can be easily replaced. Byron is still a nice player to have on the team, and I’d only move him if we absolutely need the cap space for some bigger roster decision.

This is all considering cap hits and age. I don't think Perry signs over 1m$ and this is why I bring him back. Like I said before, Drouin does not bother me but if we can improve elsewhere I wouldn't be opposed either. Kulak at his worst is still worth more than 1.85m and it's safe to say he's been in the better half of our dcore. As for Byron, he's the guy who can be the most easily replaced imo. I like him but he's not worth his contract

Kulak at worse as been ok. He’s our most consistent dman this year with Edmundson and Romanov. Petry is bad lately, Weber have been bad all year with Chiarot. But the last 3 are the ones playing 20 min a night

I think the main problem with this team is that it is always trying to win, like some pathetic gambler chasing his loses. Every year it is trying to win (make playoffs). Ownership and management has just waisted way too many time to truly rebuild. As long as you keep trying to win every year, you will never win.

Byron could be replaced, but the cost of moving him would be too great to justify the trade unless we really, really need to. He’s still a good player, and look at what it cost the Caps to move Panik, who’s making less than Byron is. It wouldn’t be cost efficient to move and replace Byron. (In terms of both assets and actual cap hit) Plus he’s just a great leader and is very versatile.
