No one is paying that for Debrusk after the season he has had.
    Maybe 2nd and 3rd.

Bruins might protect Lauzon over Grizz IMO - younger, RFA status and cheaper in flat cap world.

Reilly may be playing his way to more US$$$ too?
Other alternative for the draft some were yakking about yesterday is SEA can select UFA Rielly and he would become the selection from BOS?

Way too much for DeBrusk, I'd do a 1 for 1 trade that would be Bear for DeBrusk, if that's not enough for DeBrusk, I'd do Bear, 2022 2nd rounder for DeBrusk and if that won't make it happen, I'd hang up the phone and stop calling Boston's GM for any trade, DeBrusk hasn't even made it to 50 points a season yet

EDM isn't doing that. They will have plenty of options available to them in FA this year. They don't need to run around wasting 1st round picks to find a winger.

Debrusk is better than anyone they can pull from the bottom half of this years draft. It’s a terrible draft year.

No way they protect lauzon over grizz. I get the economics but lauzon ceiling just isnt that high. Yeah signing Reilly cheapish instead f taking lauzon or zaboril or kase is an option and one I think seattle kicks the tires on.

And their were some GMs that had Pasta in their top 15. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Wings said had Larkin not been there Pasta was their pick and were shocked when he stayed on the board as long as he did. This year that could be Raty. Still not the year to be trading established players for later 1sts.

There was also Sonny Milano, Conner Bleackley, Jarred McCann, Nikita Scherbak, Ho-Sang, Goldobin, John Quennville, Kempe in the bottom of 2014.

Yes, Seattle can select UFAs but as they have the ability to negotiate a contract with any unprotected UFA from the time the protection lists are submitted until the draft itself they will most likely only select someone if they sign a contract during that time.

He's passed my eye test when I've watched a few games to make it a consideration (and yes it's still a small sample size)...

no one knows that. At all.
Just because next years draft has a generational talent in Wright in it doesn't mean that this year is "horrible". If that was the standard you could look at ever draft since the McDavid draft and say basically the same thing. No one called the Hughes draft horrible, and that was probably a weaker draft than this one.
While it is a bad year to draft because a lot of prospects didn't get to play etc.... that doesn't mean the "draft is terrible." If a lot of these kids got to play more we'd have more to talk about. But considering the OHL didn't play games, etc... it's hard to even make a single judgement on this. It's just throwing people under a bus needlessly.

The 2022 Draft is supposed to be loaded regardless of Shane Wright. DeBrusk is easily worth a mid to late first round pick especially if he has a good playoff.

It has nothing to do with who is at the top. Just the opposite in fact. It’s just very shallow.

no one knows that. Which is what I'm trying to tell you.
You got kids who have missed a whole year of development and you want to compare them to kids that didn't.
Like lay the hell of them. You along with every NHL club out there, does not know what they have in this draft. That is the best that can be said.
You won't be able to judge this draft for some time. Which tends to be true with all drafts but this one particularly because their year -1 was taken from them.

I think we will see lots of surprises in this Draft down the road. Teams will harvest top talent throughout. I personally believe Detroit will definitely do that with 12 picks overall and 7 in rounds 1-3. Even in a normal Draft I think DeBrusk will fetch a mid to late first round pick plus maybe a third. I remember seeing a guy like Ryan Reaves get a late first at the Draft where teams mostly know what they have in the board in the moment vs making the deal in season when they have less of an idea.

    kids can't play.....
you; "there is no quality there"

    smh

    OHL 0 games.
WHL teams played between 3 and 19 games.
Q only division in canada that actually played games like 40.
Europe did not have whole seasons.

You don't know what the hell you actually got here. The whole thing is in disarray.
If anything, this could be the best draft for teams lower on the ladder, as their ability to find talent that has slipped through is as high as it has ever been.
People on the bottom of the draft might have one of the best drafts ever picking that low.

Scouts, execs, writers have been pointing to this years draft for 2 years saying it would be a weak draft. It’s only gotten worse.

No desire to trade Debrusk to draft an Oskar Olausson, Sasha Patujov, Simon Robertson etc etc. Most of the projected bottom 15 look like role players at best. Rather make a hockey trade with him or hold him for another year.

yeah leave it to the "sports writer" to tell us all about how 15-16 year old won't be an NHL player based on their play at 14 years old.
FFS, people wonder why I have no respect for their clickbait bs.

No one knows what you have here.
You most likely won't till they hit the AHL/NHL.
NHL executives have already said that too.
It's pretty hard to "scout" talent that isn't playing.

There are guys like Huckins, Dach, Morrow to name a few that project in the 2nd round that could easily be better than guys projected in last half of the 1st. Which speaks to the lack of quality at the bottom and the crap shoot nature of this years draft. Not being able to see further development or lack of it.

It’s definitely a Sweeney type of draft lol.

yeah leave it to the "sports writer" to tell us all about how 15-16 year old won't be an NHL player based on their play at 14 years old.
FFS, people wonder why I have no respect for their clickbait bs.

No one knows what you have here.
You most likely won't till they hit the AHL/NHL.
NHL executives have already said that too.
It's pretty hard to "scout" talent that isn't playing.

Guess scouts and execs should quit their jobs for saying it, because the writers got it from them. 🙄

    Just posted elsewhere:
Bruins might protect Lauzon over Grizz IMO - younger, RFA status and cheaper in flat cap world.

Reilly may be playing his way to more US$$$ too?
Other alternative for the draft some were yakking about yesterday is SEA can select UFA Rielly and he would become the selection from BOS?

Boston should protect Lauzon over Gryz. Todays game did nothing to change that thought. He can stand in there with the big boys. If Gryz is taken you have a cheaper version in Reilly if you want although todays game showed the warts in his game.
