Description
Tell me what ya think. I’d like to sign a high end LD UFA but there are none. I’d like to trade for one but I’m not sure if one would be made available in the offseason. Hampus Lindholm might be had at the TDL but he might get extended, for example.
I like the DeBrusk trade especially if he does not light it up in the playoffs. Hall basically stole his spot.
Rask can play for another 3 years while Swayman develops in the backup role. He will still play approximately 30 games a season.
I really like Oleksiak because he will help take the physical burden off of Miller and Carlo especially since they’ve had injury issues.

Rakell is a UFA at the end of next season. DeBrusk is much younger with term and team control. It’s easily a win win for the Ducks. Unless Anaheim wants to extend but word around the campfire is they are trying to get younger. This deal does that.

Rakell has move trade value than Debrusk.

We’ll see how Hall does and how he fits in.

Would not be surprised at all if they make a big push for Eichel at the draft. If it succeeds they let Hall walk.

Rakell is much more complete player. DeBrusk has regressed since his rookie year.

Boston does not have the pieces to get Eichel. They have cap space and that’s it. They could offer up DeBrusk plus first round picks and prospects but it’ll have to be a quantity trade. It is a huge loss for Buffalo. Rangers and Kings have the best chance to get him but I think it’s still tough.

Jake has had an off year but I still think it’s better than a UFA that could walk. Jake needs a change of scenery. We’ve seen his potential.

ANA could do a lot better especially if they decide to sell off all their pieces.
DeBrusk may have the potential but his stock isn't all that high.
Especially with Rakell not having a whole lot of support around him, he's managed to deliver consistent numbers since ANA has been going through their rebuild stage.

LA and NY have better pieces but do they do it? Never would have thought they’d land Hall and Lazar for what they did. Supply/demand/circumstance. Like i said, i think they will make a big push, i don’t think it happens, but if it does they walk away from Hall. It’s a much better scenario for Boston.

Why walk away from Hall? Put him and Eichel on a line together. Unless they hate each other from their time in Buffalo.

Definitely a strong possibility that the Ducks keep him and flip him at the 2022 TDL. Palmieri and Zajac got a great return.
What could the Bruins offer to get Lindholm??
Vaakanainen and a first round pick?

Because you have a huge year the next year with Mac and Bergey coming due among others. You can’t have everyone, ask the Leafs.

On a very very team friendly 3.8M, ANA would get a lot more if they traded him in the off-season.

I think folks need to go look at some /60 numbers for DeBrusk vs Rakell since 2018 before saying Rakell (a ufa after next year) has more value than DeBrusk (an RFA after next year).

Well aware of what their numbers are. Well aware of the players they are as well. I have defended Debrusks trade value against all other fan bases and their ridiculous offers over the last 2 months. But right now...Rakell has more trade value than Debrusk, they would not be adding Colangelo. In fact when the 2 teams were talking at the deadline it was Boston adding in a Debrusk/Rakell deal.

Yeah so if ANA decide to go total firesale. They should just sell him now. They'll get a lot more value now as opposed to TDL. You indicated 2022 TDL.

Since 2018, when it comes to scoring and scoring chances Rakell has DeBrusk beat in /60 numbers.
DeBrusk has also had more offensive zone starts /60, while Rakell starts a whole lot more in the defensive zone.

Sure, and if he doesn’t his trade value gets worse. If Rakell gets a major injury and is ruled out all next year he has no value. Etc etc. But i don’t deal in what ifs.

1-year of Rakell for Debrusk sounds about even.
But Colangelo tips the deal unbalanced.

I'm talking about their overall contribution to their teams

    GF/60
    RR - 2.45
    JD - 2.26

    High Danger Scoring Chances/60
    RR - 11.11
    JD - 9.84

    Off Zone Starts/60
    RR - 11.64
    JD - 12.83

    D Zone Starts/60
    RR - 8.26
    JD - 5.68

RR much more complete player and plays a 200 foot game. In 2018, collected 40+ points, finished tied for second on a team that had absolutely no offensive output and finishing dead last in GF in the league.
JD had the support of Krejci as his main pivot, Krejci went on to have a career year in 2018.

Easy for you to pick G/60 when DeBrusk had better linemates and was playing on a better team
2018 - Rakell's linemates were Getzlaf/Perry and Silfverberg/Shore and Aberg/Getzlaf. Keep in mind Getzlaf and Perry were old and way past their prime. Getzlaf didn't even eclipse 50 points, Perry was injured for a third of the season and collected 10 points.
2019 - Rakell mainly played with Henrique and Silfverberg

2018 - DeBrusk played with Heinen and Krejci
    2019 - Krejci and Kuhlman
