Has Hanifin been crushing it this year? Last year he was practically a cap dump.

He's been one of our best dmen when paired with Tanev. I haven't seen enough of him with Andersson(they have only been playing together for 4 games)

I think what he means is not enough value. Hanifin is basically a top 2 defender now which they’ve been hoping for. So a guy putting up good numbers in the AHL feels light on value for a top 2 dman.

Beaudin has been pretty solid defensively and he's 21 years old and still learning. His ceiling is definitely top 4. He's NHL ready it's just that the Hawks have a logjam at D right now and he's stuck behind some folks.

He was never a cap dump, where did you get that idea from? Last year his contract was simply considered fair.

As for your first question, yes Hanifin has definitely had a breakout year but it's gone very under the radar atound the league due to bad production luck. Hanifin has had one of the best expected goals against league wide and a very solid goals against to follow. Hes lead Calgary all season in Corsi For (scoring chances created) and since Ward was fired has been producing and half a point per game. Hanifin has easily been the best defenseman on the Flames this year.

Nothing against Beaudin because I think he has potential but thats like trading DeBrincat for Zary, a 3rd, and some depth pieces
