Rangers after Eichel trade

Créé par: Devil

Description
Some Rangers fans think this is too much for Eichel (it definitely isn't), but all of the pieces in this trade are replaceable. Eichel replaces Strome, Kravstov replaces Kaako, Lundkvist replaces Schneider, Kinkaid or any backup goalie replaces Georgiev. Rangers are in a position where they can trade from places of strength for places of weakness and can give up prospects and picks to do so. Rangers have no reason not to do this trade. If anything, Buffalo would decline (but they shouldn't)

Thats more than the most recent of the reported ask from Buffalo for Eichel, (4) First round type pieces, thats 4 plus , & that was before the neck issue & the sell off from the Buffalo wasteland.

I think the trade market may see more Centers on it than originally thought, Gorton likely takes a full view of what's out there, see what Buffalo can net for Eichel, who the other suitors may be, & make an offer based on that ... i wouldn't go in at over the ask on the first pass.

Buffalo is not trading Eichel to the Rangers, end this ceaseless idiocy. If, and that’s a huge if, they trade Eichel, it will not be to a team in the East

There won't be centers like Eichel on the market for long. Rangers aren't the only team trying to get Eichel so they would have to pay more to outbid. And Buffalo would want at least 1 quality piece going back.

I was thinking of making the first line Laf-Eichel-Panarin but Im not sure if it would work

That's a fair argument but if they want to get the best offer, it would come from the Rangers

I don’t think many, if any, teams are actively trying to get him. It’s just a few phone calls asking the price which clearly no one has interest in paying the price. If LA wanted him they would have him already and be taking the plunge in the standings to get a top 3 pick. NYR have plenty of assests, could have easily packaged Laf, Kravs, Lundkvist and Schneider together to pay the price, only taking 1 roster player from the team to receive a high end C which is what people seem to think we need. If you make that package the package for Eichel I’m sure all fan bases except NYR would say deal. And to help make it work ADA would be tossed in(salary wise in 21’) next season there is obviously room but I’m making the point that we could easily get him if he was that badly wanted/needed.

No reason to trade for Eichel. I’d rather keep the team I have and develop than do something dumb like this.

He isn't being shopped yet. 2020 offseason the Rangers reached out for Eichel in a package that included MIka and Laf but the Sabres rejected. Unless Eichel really wants out, Rangers can't "easily" get him unless they give Buffalo alot of their prospects which wouldn't be smart

How does destroying our long term cap help us. It’ll force us to dismantle the team when it comes time to pay the young players.

You prolly don’t care cause your a Devils fan, but it doesn’t help. And then you trade the world to get him, when those cheap young pieces and picks are needed to supplement the team when cap space is tight. I don’t think you get how the cap works.

When I say “easily” I mean they have 3x the assets needed to acquire him. Yes they would have to give up some prospects but they have those assets where most teams can’t come close to matching. By a long shot the deepest prospect pool of youth

Doesn't destroy the cap. It actually helps

Strome makes 4.5 and with the way he's playing he would want a raise (which the Rangers wouldn't want to give him)
Kaako would make around 4 on his bridge deal. Kaako will make more if he gets a long term deal
Georgiev makes 2.5 which is too much for a backup goalie
    Schneider is moveable

You’re not factoring in Fox, Shesty, Miller, Chytil, Kravtsov, Buch, Lindgren and oh yeah Laf. Plus Jones and Nils. It does not work with a flat cap. I’m not losing half of those guys for Eichel.

Eichel trade hurts short-term cap space. Eichel trade helps long term cap space

Rangers have short term cap space but not long term cap space

I could explain in more detail if you want me to but as crazy as it sounds, the Rangers' cap sitaution would be better if they got Eichel

You’re not explaining how we’d resign all those guys within the next 3 years. Adding Eichel makes that impossible.
