I thought the Holl for 4th rounder posters were done. Too bad I enjoyed the couple months of not having to chime in. But seriously? 2M cap hit for a guy playing 20+ mins a night against the opposing top lines? Leafs will hang on to that all day.

Agreed. Count me as one of the many who didn't believe in Holl, but he definitely proved me wrong.

Holl, Engvall, Mikheyev, and Kerfoot are replaceable. We also need to get draft picks

It worked on Tavares doesn’t mean it’ll work on everybody. The only reason was because the Islanders sucked back then and Tavares didn’t like them too much. There’s not a lot of free agents that sign with different teams. Dallas is his team now and it’ll stay that way.

Look at Foligno. He could have went to the Capitals, Avalanche, or Knights, but he wanted to "come home" even though he isn't from Ontario. He had the final say of where he wanted to go, and he joined the Leafs

All players are replaceable. Just what cost? Here you have replaced Holl with Oleksiak who we have no idea if is better than Holl. You’ve also moved Rielly to the right side where we know it doesn’t work. I don’t see the point of paying Oleksiak the same money we are giving to a proven RHD in our system. Oleksiak may be good. But he may also be a product of a good defensive system in Dallas.

We don't know who is better until we see them play, but why not accumulate our lost assets when we have the players that can get us our picks back. If we are fine with only having two draft picks, then lets not trade Holl, but we can't act like he isn't replaceable

Southern Ontario produces the most NHLers... doesn’t mean everyone wants to “come home”.

So to you a 20 min RHD at 2 M is worth a 4th round pick?? Even a 3rd or 2nd, the odds of turning into a full time NHLer are quite low.

Also an example of the same thing, team that sucks in the playoffs and someone who wants success in them. The Leafs have pretty much the same success as teams like the Capitals, Avs and Knights, out of those teams Toronto was the one he liked the most.

Oleksiak is staying in Dallas. Just as we are high on hyman staying Dallas is the same with him. Holl is a great defensemen on a 2 million contract your are keeping him especially not trading him for a measly 4th.

I consider other factors as well. Hockey aside, he has his family living in Sudbury and owns a business in Ontario

I just can't see it. He's one of the few FAs where Im pretty sure on where they're going/staying. Now I would love him on the leafs. Also Kerfoot is most likely to Seattle.

Guy needs to grow a beard if he's going to let that hair keep growing out.

On the topic of this entire thread though-the whole "Awwwww $hit, let's get our draft picks back" thing is beyond me. Like, you've got the assets, keep going. The idea of trading players for picks, then signing other players to team friendly contracts is hilarious, because it doesn't really happen. Kerfoot goes to Seattle for nothing, and any team trading any sort of asset for Engvall and Mikheyev could just dip into FA and sign a similar player for the same amount. Holl is literally the only one who has significant value here, and trading him away only hurts the team, especially from a cap perspective.

Foligno picked Toronto for a trade destination in which he is still getting paid the same amount. Oleksiak is looking at his only real opportunity to get paid, if he really wants to "go home" then is would probably be a discount at 3 mil not 2.

Reilly can't defence on his strong left side, no sense in moving him to the right.
You've traded the cost efficient Leafs. Need cap space, trade Nylander. Foligno and Spezza don't play centre now. Certainly it weakens the Leafs having those two at centre.
