Yes. In terms of skillset, size, speed, whatever, he has all the tools to be a top line C in the NHL, which is a more valuable position.
PLD learned the position fairly late in his development. I believe he transitioned halfway through his draft year in junior.
The two obstacles here are
-the learning curve for a guy who has played W his whole life
-the fact that he doesn't get to learn it against lower competition. Zegras is getting a chance to transition back to C in the AHL before being called back up. I know the Rangers don't want him in the AHL but if he's going to change positions, it might actually be the smart thing to do.
