Why not do some sort of Eichel for Kuznetsov swap? Buffalo would be happy because they get a top 6 center locked up for years to come, and then you wouldn't be so cap strapped when you have to pay a goalie. Plus you'd get to keep Samsonov

Very interesting, I'm intrigued. Is it enough to pry Eichel from them? It should be, imo. They're years away from being good. McMichael could be just as good as Eichel in a few years and it resets their timeline.

That seems like a backwards move for them, unless they get a couple picks or a good prospect.

McMichael is very very likely not going to be a top 5 center dude. This isn't close

How do you know? He's an A+ prospect. Aren't those the ones that most likely *will* be that?

BUF said they wanted 4 1st rounder that are not looking to be bust/established elements. For a comparative this pricetag would look like MTL giving away KK, Suzuki, Drouin and like multiple high picks. This trade is not even close to that. I get that McMichael is a good prospect but he do not fit the requirements at all.

We could say that but tbh, If I was BUF, I wouldn't trade Eichel to WSH. They don't have the assets to trade for him unless they'd trade like a Kuznetsov +++ package which is unrealistic asf

    Oversimplifying the trade.

    Here:

The Caps are in win now. Buffalo is not, and has not been in this mode for years. They were pure dog ****, even with Eichel and Hall. They have a long ass way to go, and 1 1C isn't going to do it.

In that Ovi scenario, you have it exactly ass backwards. New Jersey sucks and doesn't need Ovi, they'll still suck with him too. Caps are winning now.

This trade makes sense for both teams because the Caps want to get better now at the cost of the future (see Mantha-Vrana trade), and Buffalo needs to re-rebuild, or whatever the **** they're doing. Who knows. But Eichel is the way to start a rebuild for them. A few more years of Eichel prime does nothing for them. It's Eichel surrounded by dog ****.

If the above package isn't enough, fine, add another pick and/or Kuznetsov. It still makes sense.

Between two top prospects, a 1st round pick, half of the top PK unit of a team that's top 10 in PK%, and an 83 point center, you've probably offered enough value for an 82 point center, there. Even with the three year age difference, and Eichel's elite shot.

I agree, but bias fans always overvalue their "baby". Just like Caps fans do with Ovi.

Although comparing Ovi and Eichel is a bit of a stretch, imo. Ovi is the greatest goal scorer in the history of the NHL. What exactly is Eichel?

(edited) He's a darn good even strength goal scorer who consistently shows up on a team that doesn't. So you're probably right that it makes sense for them to take picks and prospects, but you're also right that they're asking for four and the Buffalo fans on here still want one of those to be an A+ kind of guy. Goodness knows they've seen their team trade for enough prospects who haven't panned out.

I think Calgary fans want Kuznetsov for Monahan, and if WSH is all-in they'd be happier with two 80 point centers than with an 80 point center and a 1st round pick, so if you think Kuznetsov is only worth one out of four firsts in Buffalo's Eichel quest, then WSH is probably better off offering the picks.

Of course, with Kuznetsov and the above, you're halfway to giving Buffalo enough current skill to get them to the playoffs, even without Eichel. Does WSH have enough depth to make a fair offer focused on current skill?

So if they trade Eichel they are in rebuilding mode again. Kuznetsov makes zero sense. Washington doesn’t have enough.

Trading him to a team like the Caps is the only thing that makes sense. Sounds like fans are asking too much.
