Description
Neal or Kassian dumped to seatlle / after that go after FAs (Top 6 LW, Bottom 6 LD, Starting Goalie, Third Line Center). Kassian,Neal,Koskinen would be the only terrible contracts left. Russell and Turris dont hurt and only 1 year left on each.

Thats probably true, oilers need a top 6 Lw fasho so i could see them go after him or tatar or hall.

One of them would be awesome! I see Holland going hard after Blake Coleman. He attempted to trade our first in 2020 for him, and got outbid by Tampa when they added Foote.

Nice 3rd liner but i can see holloway and kassian maybe developing nice chemistry and copp/coleman would compliment them nicely and add some size to the top 9.

Definitely would! I would rather put Holloway in the AHL for a year, and I am thinking Francis takes Kassian for Seattle. Coleman would look nice alongside McDavid and Puljujarvi too, because of his fast 2-way game.

I am happy with what Holland has done with Edmonton so far, I’m excited for what he’s going to do this off-season. I think whatever he does will be a good decision, and if it’s a smart move I will stand by his side!

Button said holloway was nhl ready but you never know, benson/mcleod might have a big chance for a good role next year if holloway stays in the farm. 97 and 13 need a winger fasho and DRY line should come back.

I think seattle probably takes kassian or jones tbh but it would be nice to get neal off the books through a buyout/ dump to seattle. Some oiler fans wanted to see some more movement this deadline but I think holland has big plans this off season as well and only one team wins the cup every year and i don't think Oilers had a chance this year anyways but should be big contenders in the next 3-4 years.

Definitely agree. Who knows about the prospects though if they are ready or not. Holland will definitely do a lot in the off-season for sure! Who is fasho? McDavid and Puljujarvi do need a winger, that’s why Hall, Tatar, Coleman, Saad etc would be a great fit.

Ah okay thanks! I hope we can get Nuge under a contract, but I feel like we will lose him. He should go back with Draisaitl, and Yamamoto as they worked so well last season.

Yup i think nuge will stay, hes having a down year but bob stauffer said he expects the oilers to have Larsson and Nuge signed before the expansion draft

I kinda hope Neal retires on LTIR (never want to see a guys career end but it's best for the team)

I would gladly ship him off with a 1st though if he plays next year

Signing Larsson before the deadline would mean exposing Klefbom. I’m not ready for such things unless I get more concrete evidence he is not playing next year.

I don’t know how that works. If he doesn’t get his 11 million dollars by retiring he’s not retiring regardless of how bad he is. Either burying him a year or a 3yr buyout isn’t bad.

i agree but someone needs to be willing to take maybe a buyout at 1.9M for the next couple of years, saves us 3.85M but i wanna see him gone, lost his touch and can't skate anymore

imo the buyout option is awful I'd sooner hold onto him and move him in a TDL deal next year, or in his final year. I agree though he definitely doesn't go anywhere unless he gets his money. I'm not sure how it works either. I figure it's possible to quietly get placed on LTIR when you physically can't keep up with pro hockey, obviously not a likely scenario but I think it's a real possibility (also considering the impact covid had on him, which is speculated by people on Twitter, not sure what to believe)

That's kinda what I figure happens. IMO trade him next TDL and make a huge upgrade with that cap space, Holland somewhat eluded to a scenario like this in his press conference today. The team that receives him can buy him out that summer and pay a penalty of $1.9mill for 2 seasons, or hold him for 1 more year at $5.75. It probably only takes a 2nd + a long shot prospect at most to convince someone to hold that bag when you consider what Florida gave up to ditch Connolly. Much better than $1.9mill in cap penalties till 2025 if we buy him out this summer

yup a team like sea might take him if we add atleast a first but Oilers are still in a good cap situation in the off season, dumping neal would just sweeten the pot
