I think Yzerman will try to sign Hyman next year as a UFA - MI conenction with Larkin and a much needed RH shot.

As for that trade, probably not.

Yeah a 29 year old guy from Toronto is going to leave his hometown for a chance to play on the worst team in the league. Definitely the path to a cup.

Leafs can't afford Foligno and no way Foligno gets 4m anyways. If Galychenuk continues his good play...he'll get more than 950,000.

And Wings did not want a 3rd line center making to much money for what he is, let alone giving up picks

Money talks, and the Wings can definitely offer him more money and more ice time than TOR.

Kerfoot is a good player but I agree he likely won't hold much value to the Wings. He'll go to Seattle likely

Hyman has a lot of money, he doesn't need the biggest contract. He will want to win at home. You can offer him 7 million and he'll stay in TO because winning is more important

Sounds like you've spoken with him personally about this...good to know.

It's a rather easy conclusion to come to after listening to interviews. Sure he could absolutely price himself out of TO but I don't think he will. This team has a chance to win multiple cups and why wouldn't he want to be part of that? He will have to keep his expectations reasonable. If he hits the open market he absolutely could cash in but it would be a bad idea for himself and for whoever gets him. Anything more than 3-4 years at 4 or less is a good contract. Anything more will be Andrew Ladd at some point.

I don't necessarily disagree but he also may be one of the many players we see that moves on from a seemingly good situation for "greener pastures". He knows Dylan Larkin well, he went to UM, there's talent in the pipeline and Stevie appears to be a really good salesman....never know.

That would make more sense if he didn't own a successful eSports business, authored several successful children's books and also comes from a wealthy family. He has money already, I don't see money being a driver for him on his next contract. Since he's 29
