What VAN needs

Description
Some sample trades that could be nice ways of shuffling some things around and giving the team a much needed new look. Obviously, such deals would force the Canucks into an immediate tank for the remainder of the season. However, pulling these moves off could lead to VAN opting for a 'retool,' rather than a full on rebuild - on top of creating enough cap space for our key FA's.

That deal gives the devils more than enough pieces to swap around the blue line and find a better fit for the team, compared to what has been such a lacklustre season defensively. Sure, on paper such a swap seems less favourable, but in actuality, the pieces the devils receive are substantial enough to allow the team to make improvements offensively, or to sell off during the draft once the cap is announced. McLeod has been underperforming immensely, Carrick is buried in the AHL, and foote + the draft pick get cancelled out with the picks coming NJ's way.

This trade does not help the Devils at all. Subban has been solid this year and he doesn't have negative value when retained. Mcleod is not underperforming at all. Carrick is a pending UFA, we will let him walk. Foote is one of our best prospects. We aren't trading picks. This is clearly in Vancouver's favor

Ah, I see you're both holding on to false hope. Asset accumulation, especially on the blue line is key for any rebuilding team. IMO I put too little coming VAN's way given how they've been performing this season. Your arguments are similar to leafs fans saying Kessel was the cause of their problems, or Calgary fans thinking they have a playoff calibre team... Realistically, those assets can be used at the draft to acquire 1st or 2nd rounders on top of roster players and prospects, on top of providing intangible value and improvements over the current roster D-men. This is why fans shouldn't be GM's

what assets? we're literally in a rebuild and tanking. ur funny if u think we're giving up foote to get rid of subban. jack doesn't need payment for another year. nico's locked up. we have no salary issues, and we're not getting back any valuable assets. we're giving away a valuable asset to solve a problem we don't have.

This Mikey guy is straight up delusional if he actually thinks NJ would give up Foote, McLeod, and a 2nd for 3rd line pairing defenders 😂😂😂 maybe Schmidt is a second pairing but cmon man you can’t even justify this 😂😂

Gabriel Carlsson can barely stay in our lineup and mostly been a minor league guy. His biggest issue is his mental compete level. Despite having nice size for a D-Man he has been dissapointing and his battle level is not existent. So i am curious why your interest in him?
