It's more Dermott crap where they think Dermott and Sandin are guys who are going to be league leading D. They aren't. It's an overpay sure but like I said, not if they win a cup. Anyone who thinks you shouldn't make a move that wins you a cup because you lose a few prospects and a late pick isn't interested in winning a cup so who cares what their opinion is. Yeah, Lilegren is looking like a really good Dman but the guy your getting isn't a garbage D. That's a hell of a D to have on your third line.
The Leafs gave up a first and two fourths for Foligno, a depth forward and 75% salary retention. It's not that much to give up. On top of that it gives them much needed expansion draft flexibility.

They could with their current lineup and then still have Sandin and Liljegren moving forward. With your plan they likely lose Ekholm to Seattle and have no prospects down the line.

Ekholm does not give you expansions flexibility. If makes it harder. Just going to trade your two best defensive prospects and lose Holl next year? Great plan, especially if they don't win the cup which this move absolutely doesn't guarantee.

You protect the top 4 D and the big 4 and they take him or Kerfoot.

So lose Holl for nothing then and Sandin and Liljegren for a guy you likely can't afford to resign.

I would protect Reilly, Brodie, Muzzin, Holl and Matthews, Marner, JT, Nylander.

And lose Ekholm for nothing. Just throwing away major assets

I have not once said they should do nothing. I want them to get a 6/7 defenceman and like the other moves they have made so far. Giving up Liljegren, Sandin, our other 1st for just this playoff run of Ekholm is something no one should support. So maybe settle down and realize what is being said their buddy. Overreacting when someone disagrees with you is boring. And should be embarrassing.
