Description
I feel Liljegren is a good enough prospect to swap one for one with Oleksiak with Retention. No need for added pick.

Similar to Rutherford over paying to obtain Happy, Dubas over pays for Wilson (though I would not be upset with this deal). What Wilson will bring to the table is what the Leafs need come playoff time. Panik is a good Playoff performer in the sense he works hard on the puck. He'll be a great fit on the fourth line. Perhaps flip him the following year or at the draft for some low picks.

Anderson provides some.needed depth in net for Carolina. Since it looks like he won't return until playoff time I reduced the pick to a 5th. Smallman seems like another Hyman, someone Dubas and the Leafs organization would like to have.

Hill is a young goalie that will make a good back up. He most likely will also sign a short inexpensive extension as well.

Carolina already has 3 NHL calibre goalies, all statistically better than Andersen this year. No thanks.

Feel free to have a gander. Mrazek has been incredible, Nedeljkovic has lived up to the hype and Reimer has been.... not awful.

Hill isn’t for sale. Arizona needs to ride him to keep their expenses down.

Giving up Wilson and Panik in one trade takes away about 400 hits per season from big guys out of the Caps' lineup. On the plus side, Nylander and Oshie in their top six means Backstrom and Kuznetsov don't have to take faceoffs anymore, if the coach has the courage to tell them. The cap works. Abramov's a start. Sweeten. Hint: WSH has no RHD prospects under contract, and Samsonov is looking unsteady down the stretch. Your move.

Anderson isn't going anywhere we need the LTIR for trades incoming today or tomorrow. If the Leafs were going to trade him there is only two places that would even be interested (Boston, or Philly) and for different reason. Boston has two rookie goalies in net atm, and Philly needs someone to stop the bleeding till Hart regains his form.

As for the Willson - Nylander trade it would be an interesting fit for both teams. Willy and Backstorm had crazy chemistry at the world championship a few years ago, and as stated above Willy would help this top six. (honestly this would be Washington trading Wilson for the same reasons Toronto traded kadri cause they were tired of his ****) And it would be a 1-1 deal imo. Leafs would be giving up more on the deal based on offense, but the Caps would be giving up on more grit and sandpaper (could argue that gives you a better chance of winning in the playoffs) although Washington has enough left over to recoup that loss.

The difference in offense is not that much. Nylander has four more even strength points this year. Wilson has 72 more hits and owns one more gym where he teaches boxing. One for one, the Caps laugh and hang up.

Remove Panik and replace with a B Prospect who really doesn't have a shot at WSH team. Perhaps forget about my Anderson trade and consider putting him in and taking a contract back (1-2mill) for the sake of making numbers work (I'm unsure on the Caps cap.situtation). Either that or add Duzak or Hollowell? They would be the RHD you mentioned that are lacking in the pipeline.

Personally I think with less hype/media Nylander may do better. Wilson is an Ontario boy and could start with a clean slate? I think it's a good base to a trade that benefits both teams.
