I don’t see the fit for Gusev here or anywhere on a contender. From what we’ve seen in the NHL from him, he lacks the pace to contribute 5 v 5 on a top line, and I don’t see him bumping anyone on a 1st unit PP as a right shot one timer option in the left circle.

im surprised Gusev wants to go to the panthers and not the lightning as I was honestly projecting a reuniting with Kucherov for the playoffs

It's weird how often I have to remind people of this but he almost led his team in scoring last season in medium TOI does that count for nothing or... ?

He was 2nd on the devils in 5v5 scoring last season and even including this season his 5v5 scoring rate is similar to that of: Timo Meier, PLDubois, etc.

What would be the issue with having him on your 2nd PP unit and easily able to replace someone on Unit 1

He doesn't play that role on a PP though...

but wouldnt it make more sense for tampa because his buddy Kucherov is over there
