Korenar is more NHL ready. I’d think they both get a chance but it’s Korenar by far who’s going to get the reins first. Melnichuk is younger and needs more development. Korenar is a safer bet. But Melnichuk has the higher potential.

Will be Korenar to start off. The thing that is unforunate would be if now Melnichuk stays stuck on the taxi squad rather than getting much needed reps with the Cuda. Would not mind bringing in an old goalie or claiming one off waivers (if any go on waivers) to sit on the taxi squad to let Melnichuk be the primary starter for the Cuda for the rest of the season.

Wilson says from hereonout, he doesn't want either Korenar or Melnichuk on taxi squad. One will be #SJSharks back-up, one will be with the Barracuda. Wants to make sure at least one of them is playing regularly. So looks like they'll need a taxi squad goalie?

May just acquire a waiver goalie or get someone like Schneider (a future considerations goalie)

It's like DW is reading my mind. Not convinced DW does not have a deal lined up for a goalie with term to be 1B with Jones this year and next. The comments about the youngsters would suggest otherwise, but the comments from LeBrun and others connecting DW to upgrading goaltending moving forward seem to speak louder to me for whatever reason.

Yeah it should be Korenar who gets the backup spot. He claimed he was ready for an NHL spot a week ago and now he gets to prove it. Melnichuk should be the AHL starter from here on out, he hasn't had the greatest start and needs to prove himself.

Definitely should be Korenar he deserves it and is more ready
