There's no chance St.Louis gets a 1st for a rental in Schwartz when Palmieri didn't. And Anaheim likely looks for something similar to the Muzzin deal and the Ekholm ask. If you throw a 1st and a quality younf player at them, it makes up for the 3rd asset no included. So I wouldn't say you're far off here, just a minor tweak

I thought about that as well. However, I almost feel like the over pay would need to be with STL getting them (and JS) to entertain the trade. I think ANA’s focus is getting young NHL ready players and not picks.

Either way I do think small tweaks, and these aren’t bad trades.

I like adding more cup experience with JS an JM.

Ducks want a first not a second

I think that you can afford to lose one of your top 6 a lot more than you can afford to lose one of Hamilton or Pesce, or even one of your top 4 defenders, and if you do, you'll be more than second-and-Geekie-happy to have Manson this playoff year or next playoff year. So I agree with @TrueCanuck that you should switch the picks.
