What a terrible season. Such high hopes and then nothing could come together in time. Goalies have been awful, injuries plagued most of the year, and the top-2 in our division are clearly on another level right now. I've always thought of Armstrong as a pragmatist so let's see if he pulls the trigger on some re-tooling moves.
Since I'm on the fence about moving Schwartz, I put up a price that could convince me to move him. I think he's a perfect fit in STL and as long as his ask isn't more than 6m x 6 or so, it would be a worthwhile extension.
Parayko is still not anywhere close to 100%, if they start to sell pieces they should sit him for the remainder of the year. The guy is out there with zero mobility and probably at risk to wreck his back even worse...
Give Stevens - 1-5-6 in 8 in Utica so far - a look similar to how Joshua earned one.
This sets up for 7-3-1 protection:
Perron, ROR, Tarasenko, Schenn, Thomas, Kyrou, Sundqvist
Parayko, Krug, Dunn
Binnington
(yes this leaves Faulk, our best d-man this season, exposed. But is he even on forward-thinking Seattle's radar, and if he is, are we really confident that he'll produce to that contract for *ahem* 6 more years?)
The FO probably wants to move on from Dunn in the offseason but I want to see him stick around (aka I'm gonna be sad when he gets traded). All you have to do is watch an Avalanche game to see that swift-skating, offensive defensemen can play big minutes in a system based on speed/o-zone pressure. The Blues think that they are better served by Bortuzzo/Scandella types instead of adapting to a more offensive-minded system... it worked in 2019 but it's not the best plan IMO.
And for the love of god, I know it's gonna be difficult to find in 2021, but draft some guys with some real upside this time around, especially if they're gonna trade Schwartz for another 1st rd pick.
Well first off really great team explanation. Thought that was superb!
as an Edmonton Fan, Ill answer towards our part in this.
Since Edmonton is really happy with the depth and where we are at this season, unless your giving us a hell of a deal like Sanford for a 5th, I just don't see us making any trades with St. Louis or infact any teams this trade deadline. We are just gonna be doing some resignings.

Thanks for the reply. I think there would be enough teams interested in Sanford to keep his return higher than a 5th, but I feel you about edmonton trying to work with what they have. If the Blues can't get a decent pick for ZS, he becomes another option for seattle, and stl has one less fwd spot to fill.

Totally agree with you. Actually one thing the oilers might do is if you guys wanted one of our defense prospects, like Caleb Jones, cause we need to deal defense before the exspansion draft, then I could see Edmonton doing Caleb Jones for Sanford straight up.
As for the Toronto part.... I would love a top 6 forward to play with Tavares and Nylander but we have limited cap space unless Andersen gets put on LTIR. I think this trades really depends on how much confidence Leafs management has in Niemela’s future, he was named Defensemen of The Tournament at the world juniors after all.
I also think Kerfoot would probably have to be in the deal. The Leafs lineup is full as is right now, adding two forwards and not sending any away would cause some issues in terms of who sits and who plays.
Personally, I like the idea quite a bit. I’m just unsure because of the lineup issues for the most part.
Make the Boston trade Berglund and a 2nd. Also, you're going to trade Schwartz and Barbashev with retention to Toronto and not get Liljegren?
I'd take Liljegren, but I think he's close enough to the NHL that the Leafs prob keep him. Niemela has plenty of upside, just 2-3 yrs out. Really I'd rather see Schwartz sign an extension. Just tossing out options.
