Flames get a younger player who can be a part of their future... JG is a UFA after next season. imo they get a less player but Vrana is a great player , younger and they can have control of him for 8 years if they want.

i added a 1st and Siegenthaler for the cap+ taking Panik. i would love an average prospect coming back but idk how the Flames feel about Vrana.

I think the Flames retaining that much is going to be contentious. More likely able to get away with adding Hagelin and dropping the Flames' retention. It's longer sure, but at least the Flames get something tangible for those dollars. Might need to add a 3rd or a 4th in 2022. Vrana's an interesting piece.

you think they would rather take Hagelin instead of retaining 3.25m for one year? honestly wondering... to me JG is more than likely gone after his contract is up and Vrana could be a solid 2lw behind MT. Vrana is a really solid player. i would hate to trade him but i think JG helps the caps win a cup this/next year

All I really know is retaining anything over $1M over a couple years isn't worthwhile.

Gaudreau imo is better than Vrana and his cap hit being at 3.5m will help the capitals till the new TV deal kicks in. Vrana = Gaudreau imo but if you want them to eat that much money you have to give up some assets
