Bad all around for Nashville except for Rakell but that doesn't make sense for Anaheim
Using your best trade chip to get rid of Duchene is a non-starter. We can easily handle Duchene's contract caphit for the near future. Buying him out would hurt but it's still better than getting basically nothing for Ekholm. Beyond that it doesn't even save us caproom. Those three from Detroit cost 7.65M in capspace and then necessitates the Arizona trade which puts the total caphit at 13.125M when Duchene (who is still better than either of the forwards on that return) and Ekholm (who is better than Goligoski) cost 11.75M. Add in Trenin, Davies, and the other young players that are playing well and it's a wash. So it makes the team worse, necessitates another bad trade, and then doesn't make the team better.
Trading our 2 top prospects (Tomasino and Farrance) for a couple depth pieces would be ridiculous.
Rinne goes nowhere. He has a NMC and has stated he plans on ending his career in Nashville.
Anaheim doesn't have any use for a UFA to be and 2 players with 1 year left. Evangelista is one of our better prospects but isn't enough to get Rakell all by himself. This wouldn't be enticing for Anaheim.
