Description
Not sure if cap space allows for this but I really like Laughton. It gives Toronto the option of Laughton/Hyman/Kerfoot in the offseason. Keep two depending on cap hit. Ideally I'd lose Kerfoot and sell him to a team needing a 2nd line LW.

Isn't it counterproductive putting Hutchinson 2.42 GAA, .919 save %, and then have no NHL back up while you wait at least five games for Ullmark to be NHL ready after the trade.

Ullmark is great but I wouldn't give up a first when Campbell is probably the playoff starter

Ullmark will start 5 games for the Leafs if he plays 50% of starts. You are paying a 1st for those 5 games.

1st assuming the idea is to try to sign him after the season sillies. You can't go into next year with Campbell and .... no one. Hutch again, no thanks. Love him as the 3rd/4th goalie but, yeah.

Then sign him in the offseason. If he isn't going to sign in Buffalo, it won't cost a 1st. The Sabres would have zero negotiating power. I am not sure they would even get a 2nd for him. There are other goalies available and TO doesn't need a starter they need another backup if Andersen is hurt long term. Campbell is the starter now.

They absolutely do not if he isn't going to sign with them. If he's going to test the market get what you can and it won't be a lot. Other goalies are available and there are few teams that even need a goalie. TO only would be interested if Andersen is injured long term and they are your best bet. That makes the asking price, whatever you can get. A 1st is ridiculous.

I hate this BS arguing over pick value. Player value sure, picks... come on. The point I am making is that IF ANDERSON is NOT ready to go, the Leafs NEED to get Ullmark. Hopefully its a 2nd. If its not I don't care. Just get him or another decent goalie. 'Swear word' Laughton was the main point of this post why is it all about Ullmark, 'other swear word'.

Plus same typically angry poster being angry. Lovely.

Because you swear word sent the biggest asset for the swear word goalie. That is a silly overpay. And the difference between a 1st and a 2nd isn't bs. It's pretty major. You do know that the higher the pick the better chance of finding a good NHL player right?

You don't get value for someone who hasn't yet signed for next season as if he had.

Like I keep saying, you are an angry person. Yoou can get the same point across in a jovial manner.

Like so many Armchair GM posts, the comments are so specific and mean, instead of looking at the 'nature' of the trade and the idea behind it. Sure the value matters but it is secondary in most cases, or at least like Calculus, should have limits.

You seem to be everywhere and have different opinions as me mostly lol. First off isn't Ullmark a RFA. I'm not sure on what the compensation are for salary. I could be wrong. But our 1st is hoping to be the 31st pick since AZ forfeit. Ullmark for a 1st I don't mind so much. All depends on who leafs are looking at tbh. And I still think hall would be involved in a Ullmark deal. There's a bunch of factors leafs need to think about when trading for a goalies like is he a rental. A tandem for next year. Is Andersen leaving etc.

Edit: I'm stupid I could of just looked at Ullmark on lines. Still think it's going to based on what leafs thinks will happen with Campbell and andersen

Philly says no, a late 3rd and 4th (and the third is a yr away), not enough. And Philly (arguably) has 2 forward prospects at Centre better than Hallander in the AHL right not.

Hallander and 2021 2nd is closer.

I sort of copied the tone you used there budzo. And throwing assets away like they don't matter is a great way to turn a team one that has no future.

Yeah totally. If Andersen is healthy then they don't want a goalie. If he isn't they are looking for a backup for Campbell that is better than Hutchinson. So looking at the whole picture as I've mentioned, with Ulmark he's a pending UFA on a team that is a dumpster fire. If he wants out the Sabres are losing him this summer for nothing. If that's the case they could trade his rights in the off season, which will likely range from a 3-5th round pick depending on the situation. Considering his career high in games played is 37, he really doesn't have a huge track record. He certainly looks like a potential good target for a tandem with Campbell but even then, we won't sign him until after the expansion draft otherwise we would risk losing him or Campbell. So a sign and trade doesn't make sense lowering the value. This scenario just sucks for Buffalo. They will not get full value for the asset. A 2nd tops and that is only if the Leafs feel he's the best option with Andersen hurt but even then, I think they will just go a different route for a cheaper option.

That is the only reason they will move him at which point it's get what you can in the very limited market you are in. Not a strong position to negotiate a major return for a potential rental goalie.
