Extreme hot takes. Ulmark has played 37 in a season once 2 years ago and has never proven himself as a sure fire starter, let's trade our best RHD prospect and a 1st for him even though Campbell has been terrific and Andersen should be better when healthy. Oh and let's also trade a 2nd for an absolute lateral move. Why? Because you just have to make moves, you can't stand pat! You have to trade guys and alter the chemistry because moving guys in and making them sit for a week to quarantine will help us win! Do you secretly want to see Marincin in the lineup?

You are trading Liljegren and a 1st for 5 games of Ullmark. You find value in this?

Marincin is better than he is. And is the next man up when we have to wait for Oleksiak and then what happens if he doesn't click with Bogosian? Or fit the system? Guess who does?; Dermott

Dermott is here to stay this season. I think he should be here longer but he signed a cheaper deal than he could have gotten to STAY in Toronto. He works alright on the 3rd pair and is cheap. He's not a guy you throw away mid season. Maybe you trade him in offseason if there is clearly no spot for him and he is pushed past 7 on the depth chart. No to get Oleksiak you trade a pick only.

As for Ullmark, I think all Leafs fans would love to have him. Anderson should NOT be traded unless absolutely necessary for cap reasons AND if his injury is going to keep him from playing healthy for the rest of the season. He is a good goalie and whats wrong with having 3 goalies this year?

Buffalo has ok RD also, so I think they would be after a LD prospect. That being said if they aren't super keen on keeping Ullmark, which I think they should be, I think they would take that trade. If I'm Toronto I don't pay that price though.

As much as guys on here love Dermott off and think he's the best Dman the leagues ever seen he's not and his time on the Leafs is limited. He's not that good, and he continues to be the majority of the defensive lapses we see on this team. He's not scoring, he's defensively bad and problematic. That being said he logs only a few minutes and he's adequate. I don't think they pay a lot to replace him but a guy with a year left so they can expose him and better defensive skills than Dermott is probably the guy if it happens.
I don't see Freddy coming back and anyone who comes is going to be a tandem with Campbell. Ullmark is a good choice.

I don't love dermott and we need a tough defenseman, oleksiak is 6'7 and fits the role perfectly.

Oleksiak + Bogosian = 99% of the time stuck in their own zone.

More trades where the Leafs either overpay or trade for players that aren't better than what the Leafs have now.

If Ullmark played for the Leafs you'd want 2 1st round picks and a top prospect for him.

Only if he was good with the Leafs. And had a proven record of dominance. Even at that, 2 1st for a goalie just isn't the market these days for a goalie. Campbell isn't worth that much and has been better than everyone so far this year. Sure it's a small sample size but 8-0!

If he's been good with the Sabres he would definitely be good on the Leafs.

No one can say for sure. Dubnyk was crap in Edmonton but terrific in Minnesota. Lots of goalies are good one year and then not the next. Goalies are so hard to predict. Which is why they are not overly expensive to acquire. Now considering Ulmark is FA he's quite possibly just a rental. Making him even less expensive. And the Leafs have Campbell who's been terrific and has proven about as much as Ulmark but is currently gold and has the team's trust. So why would TO spend big to get him? Philly may but that would run the risk of destroying Hart's confidence further. Who else needs a starter right now? No one in the playoffs so the market for Ulmark is small. What you would be doing by moving him is making sure you get something for him knowing he's going to test FA. That doesn't put Buffalo in a good spot to demand a huge return.

Yeah the fact is that players aren't worth what they would be in a normal year. Between COVID problems, the flat cap, most teams not spending money or interested in trading he's worth what the Leafs are willing to pay.

If Andersen gets healthy, Ulmark isn't worth anything to the Leafs. He would be an addition if we need an improvement over Hutchinson to backup Campbell and Buffalo would move him if he is going to test the market. At which point they don't have much negotiation power.
