the habs would pull off this trade and Lafreniere would become a patrik stefan type player

The main thing that's gone wrong for Lafreniere this season is his player usage. When he's away from Jack Johnson, Libor Hajek and Brendan Smith, he has a 56% scoring chance share.

I think people forget he’s only playing about 14 minutes a night and barely sees much power play time (our first unit plays like almost 75% of a given power play). I think he’ll get better with time.

Congrats you have traded your best shot at a 1c. Now you are a winger heavy team with no high end C's.

Wanna find me the last team that won a cup doing that?

(Hint i can't think of one)

Agree. I feel if the coach puts him out with Fox more, then his results are going to be excellent. He's similar to Hall, most effective at retreiving pucks down low and playing a cycle game to be effective. Can't do that if you're always stuck in your own end.

    Rangers take that and run.

Suter is not waiving his NMC.

I’d say so. Fox has been something great to witness this year.

I agree plus Montreal is already deep on the wings, in fact we are deep at all 3 forward positions so we decline easily

Montreal is deep at c but still lacking in high end c talent. I think both Suzuki and jk have a shot at that (Suzuki higher), but we'll have to see how they develop over the next few years. It's pretty rare for a team to win a cup without a stud 1c.

This trade moves you further from that so it's obviously silly

Wild decline. Not only is Weber more expensive, but his contract also has more term left in it. It doesn't matter if he's a bit better now, he'll slow down just like Suter. Also, I'm fairly sure both have a NMC...

Yes again I agree but there are not many teams ever that have basically lined up 4 #2 lines. Once Staal exits quarantine that is most likely how we look.

There's also the fact Minnesota has no need for a top 4 RHD with Spurgeon and Dumba playing in their top 4.
