Description

I've posted elsewhere I'd target first Ullmark/Driedger, then Raanta/Rittich, then Bernier/Reimer. In that order. I'd keep an eye on vanecek/Georgiev and some others who may be "shaken loose" by Seattle.

For argument sake I'm signing Ullmark to a one year deal. He's the youngest of the bunch and I think it makes sense for him to try to prove himself then sign at 28 in a presumably bigger cap environment

That 4th line isn’t good enough, need some veteran IMO
3rd pairing I don’t know if it’s a good idea 2 rookies together (I did the same pairing when I did my Leafs AGM tho)

Ullmark has been fantastic on a horrible team. Can't imaging he doesn't get 4 + million on a 1 year deal. Best comparable is the Lehner deal after his year on the islanders. He got 5 million 1 year from chicago, I think Ullmark gets something similar. As an Oilers fan I'd be happy if we got him on 1 or 2 year deal for 5 million

I don't think Ullmark signs for so low $$$ and for short a term.
Engvall seems to have solidified a centre spot for next season.
There will plenty of 750,000 veterans available this summer. Just hope "your team" gets the most value might be the tipping point in a teams season. Gotta think the Leafs have another veteran Dman, but Leafs need Sandin and Liljegren to be competent NHLers next season.

That Demko deal is nuts. Signing him for 5 years with 60ish gp is cookoo and pretty unprecedented. I hope it doesn't poison the market for everyone else, but it may....

Engvall has solidified his right to be on the team. In an ideal world a 25ish point player is not your 3c. It just isn't good enough. He is totally fine their when Keefe wants to line match and I love the versatility he brings but I would want someone else penciled in to the 3c spot on opening day. Feel free to put him in the 4 c spot

Agree re Dermott (or Holl or kerfoot depending how protection goes).

Re the vets, I just think I can't predict who that will be today. Could certainly sub Spezza in for Brooks.

Or maybe a helm type guy is available on the cheap. Who knows who it will br
