A Caps fan that I know has kind of been saying that it seems like it could be an unhappy marriage there. If that's the general feeling among the fanbase the scratch is bound to raise some eyebrows. I think they'd be wise to keep him.

Yeah I’d fire laviolette before trading vrana - he’s an elite 5v5 goal scorer and he’s not a liability defensively. I’d say the isles should trade for him but there’s no way trotz plays vrana over komarov

He's not too expensive either and with the flat cap you're probably looking at a bridge for his next deal... I'd at least consider it anyways. Would depend on the whole deal. I would want Vrana extended beforehand though, in that case, just to avoid any potential complications.

Over the 2019-20 season and what we've seen so far of this one, Vrana is 11th in even strength goals. Toffoli is 12th. Eichel is 51st in that span, although he's had some big years in the past. Are you sure you want Eichel more than Vrana? Go right ahead and get him. Should be cheap.

eta: if it's an issue of depth on the wings vs other positions, I think if I'm the Kings I'd rather deal from that awesome depth of prospects at center and LD. WSH also has some good LD prospects, so probably center prospects get it done. I don't know. LA has to think about whether they want to get good again by next year, or keep rebuilding, and then think about what a fair offer is. If I'm running the Kings, and I've got a few guys from a recent Cup run, and the building sells out, there's probably no pressure to win, but Vrana's a pretty good goal scorer, and those don't always hit the market. Look how long Eichel hasn't been available.

Fair point. There was that one time Trotz played Vrana on the 2nd line over Burakovsky and won the Cup, but Komarov is in a league of his own.

It's true, and a lot of vocal Caps fans were very upset that minor league standout Chandler Stephenson was playing ahead of a future top-six forward like Vrana. Can't stay too mad about that one, though. Especially since Stephenson was a much better fit on a checking line with Beagle and Chiasson. Today that's a ten million dollar fourth line, and Komarov would fit right in.

Yeah idk I feel like at that point vrana was a big part of the caps and should have been in the lineup to start the playoffs. Who knows if caps would have won if the injury/suspension didn’t result in vrana getting a top 6 role.
