I would say yeah but the issue is his health, hes playing against the clock with his leg and honestly we have no idea when Freddies coming back. I like hutch but over his last 2 starts he has not looked comfortable and I dont want the same thing that happened in Colorado to happen in Toronto

If Dubas can get Ullmark or an upgrade over hutch and not lose much I would do it

Campbell can't play every game. When goalies start that often even the great ones tend to do poorly. He's more likely to be a Price or Gibson than a Hellebuyck or Vasilevsky.

Totally, I'd be super ok with Ulmark but he's coming in as the backup of Andersen isn't going to be able to play.

I'm fine with that, as long as Andersen is healthy, I would love to see Campbell and Andersen as the tandem

Ya they probably don’t as long as Anderson is back in a week or 2. If he’s not expected to be healthy for a while I would look for a trade. Doesn’t have to be big or for a starter can be something small because we can’t have hutch playing meaningful games.

Yeah I agree, if Andersen is gone for a while then pick up another goalie. But it won't cost a 1st and second like Buffalo fans hope.

Ya for sure. I don’t think a goalie has got a first since leafs traded for Freddy, who who was an rfa that they extended for 5 years. I think it was like the 30th overall pick that they traded too lol.

what they could do is do Campbell/Ullmark while freddie heals than when Freddie comes back Freddie/Ullmark allowing Campbell to get 100% healthy

Hard to make that work under the cap. You basically can't do anything else if it even works to start with,

I just don't think you trade for a goalie unless Andersen is out for the season.

Dubas probs would throw freddie on LTIR immediately after the trade. I think the reason freddie isnt on IR or LTIR is because Dubas is trying to get a deal done beforehand

In general this is a very strange occurance

From what I gather, freddie re-aggravated his injury he got when he played against MTL on Feb 20

if we go on the timeline he was hurt Feb 20 and came back Mar 3 so 1.5 weeks (to early according to Lebrun) and apparently it got worse as a result

since than Freddie played till Mar 19 where he hurt his groin or something and has been out till now (Mar 20- April 3 --> so around 3 weeks so far) and he has a follow up next week Dubas has till April 12th to make a decision .

To me it seems Dubas is trying to bring someone in and than throw freddie on LTIR but because there is not a deal in place yet hes taking his time. Also probs trying to calculate all cap scenarios

but kudos to freddie, he knew the leafs were ****ed if Hutch and Woll had to play for those games and despite not being 100% he came in and while not great still probs better than the alternatives.

So, if Dubas does add a goalie April 12th is when it will occur.

depends, with his nagging injury Keefe may give freddie a shot and let Campbell rest. Who knows maybe full health freddie will be the guy back in 2018 who was almost impossible to beat.

The reason hes not on LTIR is so the Leafs accrue cap space.

If he isn't expected to miss 10 games he can't go on LTIR.

If that's the case then the management and coaching is ****. Give Woll a start over an injuries goalie. That is just stupid

Buffalo is 7-5-3 with Ullmark and 1-18-3 without him.
What do you think he would do for TML? Lead them to a Stanley Cup?
Why would you think he would not be the Leaf's starter?
TBH 2021 2nd round pick (TOR), 2022 2nd round pick (TOR) and 2022 4th round pick (TOR) is just a smidgen below a first.
I hope the Sabres can resign him before April 12th but if not, this is a fair offer for him IMHO.

from the way he signed his contract he wants out of Buffalo ASAP. u dont sign a 1 year deal that makes u a ufa because u want to extend. They know and he knows hes gone as there are better opportunities elsewhere

8 and zero! Campbell is going to lead TO not Ulmark. He's either going to sign in Buffalo or the Sabres get what they can they certainly won't be getting a pile of assets, they just don't have leverage.
