Description
Nothing flashy in FA, the Winnipeg way. I think MP comes back at a discount and I think that those two fourth line vet wingers can help develop Gus. I would love to see the Jets sign a UFA top 6 winger (Hyman/Schwartz/Tatar), but I think that gets in the way of Perfetti. I think he gets a real top 6 look next year. I think with PLD, it becomes likely that Perfetti has to develop as a winger. Which is ok, I feel like he’d play well anywhere with anyone.
D pairings are just a suggestion, I think they would move around a bit. But I think that right side is pretty solid and unless they bring back a LHD vet on a 1 year deal, I think both the young dudes get a shot.
I know the expansion draft is a hot button issue here, but I think with Samberg and Heinola waiting (and JMo going nowhere), Stanley is the odd man out. Would be too bad because he’s impressed this year. But DeMelo is so solid to me, just helps break up plays that would otherwise lead to opponents’ chances. Him being taken would just leave a gaping hole for the RHD, even if they signed Savard. Someone’s got to be taken and I think losing DeMelo would hurt more than people realize.
I think trying to not be up against the cap is a good idea. This could really come in handy at the trade deadline and I think with the pandemic it’s never a bad idea to try and save a couple of bucks.
Feedback always appreciated!

Would you entertain 1st round pick swap plus a 3rd rounder for Seattle to select a pending 4th liner UFA?

DeMelo is so terribly slow and massively overrated, give Seattle something to take him, would much rather keep Stanley, could bring back Poolman for half the cost of DeMelo if another dman is needed though I don't think that'd be necessary since Samberg has been playing his off-side with the Moose.

It’s time for a franchise changer, time for Chevy to hang it all out there, demelo,Stanley, harkins, possibly last first rounder, next first rounder, and even vaselainen. Whatever it takes to acquire a number 1 dman, a rental forward and whatever needed for a run. 3 year window is here.

I guess with Ekholm probably out because Nashville is back in the race, the market for a Dman will be smaller.
But based on his play this year, a first and a prospect seems like a lot to give up.

Portzline (The Athletic) on where the market might be for Savard. Not alot of conviction in his view:
"If they get a first-round pick for Savard, I think they’d be delighted. Kekalainen is probably going to be wise and wait until just before the deadline, trying to get multiple teams involved in the bidding. So maybe a late-round first and a prospect. That seems very reasonable to me."

I agree, Savard really isn't that good but there will be a bidding war and he is a coaches dream

that team doesn't have one legit top 6 center, what do you expect the stats look like

A first round pick swap and a 3rd would be good but you have to realize that the jets firts is already going ot be late. So that throws that idea out the window. Now if the jets want to move out of the first round entirely...

Actually it doesn't. It would mean that it would move the Jets' first back from the 20s (first round exit) to 30/31, so it would be swapping the Jets 1st with a stanley cup contender's first which Seattle will likely own in the run-up to the expansion draft. Same style of deal as the last expansion draft.

Looking back at how well the expansion draft with Vegas went for the Jets I wonder if that was from Chevy and McCrimmon being long time friends.

Possibly, but he was dealing with McPhee who Cheveldayoff would have known professionally from McPhee's time at the Caps.

I kinda wonder about shmidt, tanev or klingberg, along with the Jones dream lol. Jets probably just going to pluck another off the waiver wire for free and continue on, or somebody living in somebody else’s pressbox and in need of an opportunity.

Would cost you Scheifele. We'd take a center one step down from him, but The Traitor isn't welcome back after what he did.

Boy, it’s a good thing Jets fans don’t feel this strongly about Laine/Rosy. So much energy wasted on being pissed.
I’ll tell ya, they’ll get mostly cheers when CBJ returns to the Peg. Doesn’t sound like it’s the same for CBJ and PLD.

I know the Jackets wouldn't do it but I really think they'd be better off doing a bit of a rebuild and trading a guy like Jones for a great big futures package with an A-prospect or two and a 1st plus some other pieces would be a good way to get the ball rolling on that.

Rumor is Schmidt already blocked a trade to the Jets, Tanev idk, he's defensively strong which is what the Jets need but his injury history is a concern, no doubt he'd help though, just can't see Dallas trading Klingberg even if it's looking like they'll miss the playoffs.

As much as the defense needs some upgrades
the structure of play in the defensive zone doesn't help at all and is where a lot of this cluster**** play comes from and also the Jets centers just aren't good defensively so there's that, so often I'm watching the Jets just getting worked in the D zone and I'm saying "where's our center?"

Laine didn't precipitate an international headlines-making existential crisis for the entire organization by way of his actions given who he was and what he represented to the team, so, no, the responses are not equivalent nor should they be.
