people are gonna come in here and defend hall an cry about how hes never been on a good team, he turned down 2 less from the avs to go to the sabres, hes been getting the benefit of the doubt his entire career, while im not saying he is the reason for these teams being bad, he sure hasnt made them better, MVP year with NJ is a complete outlier, Hall is a fraud and a half

I think he’s elite defensively, but he’s not a top 10D in the NHL like some analytics people suggest. Top 10DD sure, but not overall.

COMPLETELY agree. He's a solid player. I would never pay him $8 million per season, though. I think he would make a nice 2nd line player. He's not a franchise altering player, though. And I also agree that, while he always said that winning was everything, in the end he selected getting paid more money in Buffalo (BUFFALO!!!) than playing for a little less but with a guarantee of the playoffs.

I think Danault should get paid $3-4 million as a 3rd line center on his next contract, as he is an outstanding defensive center. However, I think some team will overpay him to play for them. He just doesn't provide enough offense. If the rumors were true that he turned down Montreal's offer of $5 million per for 6 years....he may regret that. That's just my opinion.

Hughes is a trainwreck defensively. Uber talented offensively, but a trainwreck defensively. He'll still get paid and will then have to play up to that new contract.

I don't think anyone sees Kuznetsov as a 1C right now, so I wouldn't call him overrated. His salary is a bit too high, but he looked like he would grow into the 1C spot when he signed.

I agree. Defensemen that play a more "all-around" game - Fox, Makar, Pulock, Slavin, Pietroangelo, Petry, etc. - miss out on even being nominated for the awards. And those nominations have real consequenses. Just think of the financial benefits a player could receive at their next contract negotiation just by stating that they have been nominated, and the future endorsement deals that those players may be able to receive because of it. While I am certain that everyone knows of the talents of those players (and the many others not mentioned) - and nobody should argue how good Hedman is - it is a shame that more fans around the league do not place those players in the same ilk.
