How much more do you think it would take to get Dallas to accept?

1st + Compher for Wood is probably too much. After thinking it over it would only make sense if NJ were sending back a pick or two. Something like Compher + 1st for Wood + 2nd + 4th maybe. Avs not having a 2nd round pick makes it a bit awkward to balance value.

Well interesting assessment on Werner since he has played zero games which I find a little telling. The back up goalie whomever it is, is going to get 3-4 at absolute most 5 more starts and of course ZERO starts in the playoffs. It is very puzzling what the actual status of Francouz is, is the Johansson move proof that Francouz is close to being ready or is it crazy to think Johansson is someone they like enough going forward.

Werner will probably get traded or let go this offseason.

Johansson is clearly nothing more than a No.3, and replaces Miska who couldn't hold that job.

I expect the Avs to acquire a legit backup at the deadline, and roll with Grubaer-backup in the NHL, Johansson on the taxi squad, and Miska + Werner in the AHL. If Annunen comes over that makes Werner expendable so he's likely gone. Then next season you have Grubauer-Francouz in the NHL, and 2/3 of Johansson, Miska, and Annunen in the AHL, with the other one in the ECHL with Jones.

That seems pretty steep for a 3C.

The ask is a 2nd and a (3rd or 2nd). Helleson is worth a second. I know it's a lot to ask but he's very good two ways and can be good enough offensively if paired with the right players.

Nah I think you're wrong about that. Helleson was projected to go somewhere in the late 1st or early 2nd in his draft year before Avs got him at 47. Since then he's had a very good development curve, culminating in being Team USA's best shutdown Dman at the WJC (and possibly best player overall in the gold medal game), along with taking big steps in improving his assertiveness with the puck in the offensive zone this year with BC. Given his style of play and shutdown ability I don't think Sakic would trade him if offered a late 1st for him straight up. His timeline coincides perfectly with Johnson's contract, making Helleson more valuable than a high draft pick for Colorado.

Thought he was a forward... oof. If he's worth that, than yeah you have a deal, just need to add like a low round pick like a 5th or something like that.

Yeah, the fact that he is a RHD puts a premium on his value, especially for a team like Dallas who's biggest need in their prospect pool is specifically RHD.

Helleson especially considering how weak this draft class is, is easily worth a 1st even though it won’t matter because the Avs aren’t trading him.

What do you think Ullmark would cost at the deadline, and also to extend?

i have no idea. there aren't enough comparable that i can think of to come up with a trade value. as for extension somewhere between $3.5m - $4.5m on a short to medium length contract but i'm not very confident in those numbers.
