As a Detroit fan I'd accept the Wing's trade. Although I'm not sure Toronto would even offer this trade? Either way I think Merrill value is about a 5th. Right now I'd say no to the retention and isn't about value. With players like Bernier, Staal, and Nemeth all with much higher cap hits so a player making under a $1M is at the bottom of the list when it comes to retention.
