Matt Roy a signé un contrat de 3 ans d'une valeur de 9 450 000 $ avec les Kings de Los Angeles, le 21 mars 2021. Le contrat comporte un cap hit de 3 150 000 $.
This looks pretty fair. Locks him down for a few years while they continue to rebuild. And very tradeable if need be down the line, although I think he can be a long term piece.
Wonderful signing for both player and team. Glad to have him aboard for the next three years -- they'll definitely protect him in the expansion draft now.

There's are some forward options. Guys like Wagner, Lizotte, and/or Lias Andersson will be left exposed.
In your mind which assets will be protected? I assume they are going 7-3-1. I myself was under the impression that players like Lizotte and Andersson are going to be protected.

I suspected they would go 4-4-1 at the beginning of the year. According to John Hoven, they're leaning towards 7-3-1.
Kings will protect Kopitar, Iafallo, and Kempe for sure. Grundstrom, Moore, and Athanasiou are likely potected with their play so far this season. The last protection slot will go to one of Lizotte, Andersson, or Wagner.
On defense, the Kings will protect Doughty, Walker, and Roy. Notable exposures on defense are Clague and Strand.

Why protect Iafallo? He's a pending UFA and probable trade target.
I personally wouldn't protect pending UFAs. Seattle's unlikely to take such assets, as they have zero leverage over them.
LOL, that's not even close to the truth. Barrie is one of the best offensive defenseman at 5v5 too.
Well yeah that was more the case in the past, exclusively last year. Barrie has upgraded great from last year.
Regardless, not really the point of the example, but whatever floats your boat. I won't deny that Barrie fits in an environment like Edmonton very, very well.

It was 100% your point, you're trying to deflect because you made a stupid comparison and I called you on it. Even before this year Barrie was a premier offensive defenseman in the NHL.
