That probably gets the deal done my only question for you is, why? Why give up that much for Ekholm to play him on the third pairing? why not go and get a guy like Benn or Forbort or Gudbransom who costs less than half that much and is more suited to the third pairing and spend the rest of the assets to shore up other needs or keep Kerfoot instead of down grading at center.

I was thinking that, definitely a fair point. I just think Ekholm gives them the strongest defence in the division and is huge insurance if one of their top guys gets hurt. And I think Jenner would be a big upgrade on Kerfoot especially at that position. He's a bigger and more physical guy that is more suited for a depth role.

I get what you are saying and it definitely would be one hell of a defense but the question is is it worth it? What if the Leafs don't make it out of the North? What if the 4th line proves too be too slow to keep up with the likes of Montreal or Edmonton or Winnipeg? The Leafs goal tending has suffered a lot of lost man games this year what if something happens and Freddie and Campbell goes down just before the playoffs? I just think there are other areas of the Leafs I would be more concerned with than the LD.
