Description
Even if we squeak this game out in OT. Maurice needs to be fired. What the hell are these line choices with under 2 mins to go in the 3rd. You’re putting the scheifele line out there for what? It makes 0 sense, you just had the 4th line out, Copp and Lowry are fresh. What is Maurice doing? This exact scenario has happened to us too many times this year. Too many goals allowed with under 2 mins left when the scheifele line is out. If Maurice doesn’t fix these lapses in judgement he’s having way too often, they should seriously consider firing him.

Bring in Gallant, I want to see a high flying, fast transitioning Jets play the way that the team is fit to play.

Edit: just watched the OT winner, we got so lucky LOL. MTL deserved that win.

You guys deserved that win, Bucky made a ridiculous save. Bad change by Danault and it’s all over. After blowing a lead like that, and allowing that late goal, MTL should have won.

Would be interesting to see how badly Schiefele Wheeler and Connor suffer point wise from not having the empty netters anymore.

No no, I do agree Jets were overall the better team. But after how the 3rd played out, MTL likely should’ve won, especially after the Jets blow it with less than 2 to go.

Stanley is developing a bit of snarl to his game. Give him some time. Oh how nice it would be if we actually just had buff back.

Scheif is good, glad he’s finally looking back to his usual self and Wheeler needs to live up to his role as captain... it isn’t just a meaningless letter on a jersey

Hah! Yeah idk, i just don’t understand what in your brain makes you think it’s smart to put two of your worst defensive forwards out, to protect a lead with under 2 mins to go. Especially when you have your two best defensive forwards fresh and ready to go. Makes 0 sense and Maurice makes choices like this every game hahaha

I just mean that it would be interesting because those 3 are 1 2 and 3 for empty net points over the last few seasons and are right up near the top again this season.

Jets were lucky Danault went braindead and decides oh im gonna make a change when he clearly saw Petry was gonna go 3 on 1. Worst idea ever. Should have carried the puck out gave it to Toffoli than changed.

Yeah I mentioned his awful change. It was almost as bad as the decision Maurice made to play the scheifele line with less than 2 mins to go.

You also have to realize that the jets have virtually no defence...other than pionk, JoMo, and forbort (sometimes for the last one since he’s terrible at breaking the puck out)

Overall, I don’t think that goal was too much the top lines fault. Look it over. Demelo got caught in a terrible play near the puck and JoMo lost track of his man (he was covering 2 guys at once so not mad there). Imo the forwards weren’t really at fault there...

In fact, other than putting copp back with Lowry and playing Lewis and thompson, I like what maurice has done.

You have to give him credit for the fact that there’s not much he can do.

Also Stanley is looking like a beast in the making. Reminds me a lot of buff (without the risk taking). Maybe a myers buff mix. I like it either way. I think he puts on more weight next offseason and is a force come next year.

IMO Stanley is a guy who could surprise a lot of people stealing a top 4 role next year if he continues to progress. He looks awesome, quietly good, physicality is showing up, great stick, skates surprisingly well for a big guy and has great passing.

I don’t think Maurice has done an awful job, I just think he’s had some moments where he’s made some questionable personnel choices. While yes some of the blame is on demelo on that last goal, Scheifele did nothing to help on that play, and the wingers were at their points. I think it was just poor defensive play from JMO and Demelo, as well as scheifele.

It’s hard watching JMO struggle like this. Jets should be looking for a long term partner for him ASAP. The guys been put through the partner carousel. Would be nice to just bring some stability to that pairing. Demelo has also struggled which doesn’t help Morrissey.

Scheifele did as much as you can really expect from a centre. He just simply lost a board battle, it was demelo’s job to support him. However, after turning the puck over, Demelo essentially gave up. As for JoMo, him “struggling” is when he’s covering two guys at one. Most of the plays where most fans see him sprawling and call him out is when he is caught between two guys. That’s not his fault. That pass should never make it there. I’m not brushing the blame completely off JoMo because he did have a terrible play on that armia chance a few minutes earlier, but one of the wingers should be in the upper slot, not at the points. This would allow JoMo to cover the back door, rather than worry about a shot coming from the slot. . That pass was also beautiful but still. You get the point.

The jets need to get him a partner who can handle the board plays. If the jets have 2 guys up against 1, they should be winning most of those. But scheifele was the only one along the boards whereas demelo was just trying to pull it out with his stick after he turned it over.

Imo, in that whole play, it’s mainly demelo’s fault. He first turns the puck over and then leaves schiefele against 3 guys along the boards. Of course he lost. The winger at the point supplied enough pressure to prevent a shot, but the winger opposite shoudl be in the upper slot of back door, rather than at the far left point where the puck isn’t going. Then it comes to JoMo, who while he didn’t make a great play, he didn’t know there was a guy at the back door. Imo, ranking whose fault that play was: demelo, left point winger, then jomo far along.

Every coach has questionable moves but generally, Maurice has done a good job which is what I expect.

I agree, Stanley might be able to steal a top 4 spot next year if he can stick around after the expansion draft and put on another 10 pounds or so.

Agreed with a lot of what you said. It really did fall on demelo and that off side winger. That’s his spot to cover the slot to prevent that seam pass. I was moreso just referring to Morrissey struggling in general. He’s had some tough games, just looks like he’s fighting the puck a little.

Stanley could be a terrifying player if his skating improves a bit more, and he puts on another 10-15 pounds. He’d be an absolute unit at that point. He has a rocket of a shot too.

Agreed, as I said, I’m not trying to sugar coat morrissey. He hasn’t been at the same level we are used to seeing from him. But he gets a lot more hate than he deserves.

100% agreed on Stanley. If you look at his game since junior, his skating has improved so much
