Columbus accepts.

Anaheim accepts only if Andersen signs an extension with the Ducks.

The Ducks need to get a starting goalie from somewhere if they're trading Gibson smile

Ducks reject, they aren’t going to take scraps for Gibson. The only enticing pieces would be Niemela and Amirov.

Lets examine some trades involving elite goalies from the last decade or so shall we?

Miller trade got the sabers Halak, Stewart, Carrier, 1st and 3rd.

This trade gets the ducks Andersen (better then Halak), A 1st, plus a blue chip prospect and a B prospect. Alot better of a return.

Schneider got the Nucks the 9th overall pick.
Luongo got them Markstorm, Matthias,
Andersen to the leafs was for 30th overall and a 3rd.
Murray for a prospect and a mid 2nd.

The core of the trade is Gibson for Amirov, Neimela, and a 1st.
Andersen and Mikheyev are included to make the money work, and the Ducks can easily trade him for 50% retained to any club and get atleasr another 2nd + prospect if they want.

Then you have Dermott for Steel, both young peices that could use a change of scenery

Gibson is a top 3 goalie with a contract that’s a bigger steal then McKinnon’s.... so yeah

I think you folks know my tone as friendly and genuinely inquisitive and NOT a troll so with that established I need to ask a sincere question to Gibson supporters. Living in Atlantic Canada I don't get to see many Ducks' games but when I have over this season and last Gibson has been horrid. I was wondering with the fascination my fellow Leaf fans have been displaying with Gibson and thought I would see if things have been better than I thought with him.

Here's what I have found:
- Gibson has only won 1 game in the last 11...and that was an OT win that he blew a 2 goal lead in the 3rd period only to be bailed out by his team mates in the extra period
- in those 11 games he only posted a save % above .900 once
- I say parts of the St Louis game this year where he let in 3 goals on only 6 shots in just over 2 minutes
- Greg Wyshynski (ESPN) noted how well Gibson played the last 2 years before he signed this recent contract. Since then not so much.
- He signed an 8 year contract @ $6.4 MIL per year
- after this season he has a M-NTC kicking in

So are you defenders of Gibson looking at 17/18 and 18/19 Gibson and putting his value on that or do you see him this season as a top goalie in the NHL? @HadesOfSoCal

100%

Helle, Vasilevskiy and Gibson r the top 3 goalies in the nhl imo

Gibson doesn’t stand out that much cause of the the mediocre team around him but his contract makes him the most valuable of the 3

Here's how I look at it: Andersen has a save percentage of 0.897, Gibson 0.894 -- that's 3 goals out of one thousand. Andersen's GAA is 2.91 with no shutouts, Gibson's is 3.11 with three 1-0 shutouts. Andersen has 13 wins playing on a team with the 7th-best defense in the league and the best defense in his division; Gibson has 6 wins playing with the 24th-best defense in the league and the worst in his division (judging the latter by GA), not to mention the 30th-"best" offense in the league. Appearances can be deceiving. Prior to his recent injury, Gibson gave up 5 goals in each of three games; I can tell you that, believe it or not, not one of them was stoppable by a human being. Gibson's value is that he solves a team's goalie problems for six more years; starting in July, Toronto will be hunting one for next season.

So you want us to trade our starting goalie for the next 6 years in return for three "ifs"?

The fact that "Andersen and Mikheyev are included to make the money work" is a benefit to Toronto, not Anaheim, so there has to be compensation for that. We don't need Mikheyev and Andersen won't be able to play more than 10 games for us after he quarantines. The fact that we "could" do something with either or both is pure speculation; their presence in this trade is a burden, not a bonus.

We have no need to give Sam Steel (whom we can protect in the expansion draft as one of our seven forwards) a change of scenery, as he's developing fine; Dermott would have to be exposed to Seattle in the expansion draft.
