Wild Bill deals with the All-in Teams

Créé par: Schmidty2go
Équipe: 2020-21 Wild du Minnesota
Date de création initiale: 16 mars 2021
Publié: 16 mars 2021
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
BG isn't afraid to make moves and none of these would have a major negative impact on the current ability to keep winning. You have to move Dumba to fix the protection issue. Parise has lived in "high school" Dean's doghouse for weeks. And Marjo has been out for most of the shortened season.
Transactions
1.
MIN
  1. Choix de 1e ronde en 2022 (BOS)
  2. Choix de 3e ronde en 2022 (BOS)
Détails additionnels:
Boston has no prospects that the Wild will want, but they need to push all in with this team and adding Dumba gives them some secondary scoring along with another body on the backend.
BOS
  1. Dumba, Matt
Détails additionnels:
Minnesota has Addison/Menell to replace Dumba, and this helps them with the expansion draft to move to a 7-3-1. It also clears up 6m in cap space that will be need to resign several guys playing well.
2.
MIN
  1. Bellows, Kieffer
  2. Ladd, Andrew
Détails additionnels:
NYI's are all in to win it this year and with Lee out until the playoffs, Lou will look to add a guy he knows while dumping the Ladd contract. Parise is MUCH MUCH better than Ladd and as Bellows looks to be playing well it gives GMBG confidence in adding him.
NYI
  1. Parise, Zach
Détails additionnels:
For Minnesota they pick up a young center who is a little farther along than Rossi/Boldy/Khovanov who might be able to start helping the team immediately. They also clear up a little more cap space by saving a few years of bad contracts with only 3 left on Ladd's deal.
3.
MIN
  1. Choix de 3e ronde en 2022 (TOR)
Détails additionnels:
Toronto also appears to be all in and adding MarJo on the cheap will add some speed and skill. He's nearly ready to return and the 14-day wait period will be perfect for him to get back into game shape so he can hit the ice when that time is up. Minnesota retaining half his salary makes this an easy add.
TOR
  1. Johansson, Marcus (2 250 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Minnesota has no need for MarJo and has played well without him. This is an easy trade to add another pick next year in a deeper draft.

Bellows has the same amount of goals in his last 2 games than parise has all season. Why would the islanders do this now?

Parise has been buried in the line-up with 4th liners (for debatable reasons). Lou likes his guys and Parise still has the hustle. His game is based on guys shooting it on net and him deflecting or putting in the rebound. When you are on a line without guys who actually shoot it on the net (4th liners), it's hard to get tips and rebounds. This also helps add a top 6 forward to help fill in for the absence of Lee.

It is most likely a late 1st and 3rd, but with BG signing Brodin and waiting until now... other teams know they have him over a barrel with the expansion draft. With guys like Eek, Greenway and Foligno having career years, he is going to want to protect 7 forwards and the only way to do that is to trade Dumba or figure out someway to convince Suter to wave his NMC (which is about the same percentage of the Wild winning the cup LAST year... zero). Besides, the 2022 draft is deeper and continues to give assets to Judd to add prospects.

But they don't need Dumba as Addison would be his replacement next year (or even this year). The Wild need to protect 7 forwards to keep guys like Eek, Greenway and Foligno who are having career years. They also will need Dumba's 6m in cap space during this flat cap to sign guys and add real talent to go with Kaprizov.

Well they can protect at least Eek, probably greenway too

A 1/3 of Parise even strength ice time has been spent with Kaprizov - he has played with good forwards. The reality is he's not top 6 F at this point in his career and he turns 37 in a few months.

I'm sure lou likes Parise, but bellows has been playing very well and he's much younger and cheaper than Parise. Lou is big on chemistry and he's not breaking up the 1st line right now. The Parise deal is dead unless the wild want to retain 50% salary and take back ladd.

That's fair that you think the deal is dead, but your Ladd + retain 50% is laughable.... Ladd is worthless and wouldn't even see our lineup... so it's dead money. You may not like Parise but he has a hell of a lot more value than your proposal.

Bellows > parise right now. Lou isn’t making his team worse because he has history with a player. This also adds salary when the isles have 3 RFA to sign this summer

Again, I think that argument is too. (Bellows > Parise right now). I was just referencing your counter proposal. I do think Lou will make a deal, it will be interesting to see who he adds and what it will cost.

If you go the 8 skater route, unless Parise or Zuccarello waive their NMC, you can choose 2 of Eriksson Ek, Fiala, Foligno, and Greenway to protect. I would argue that Eriksson Ek, Fiala, and Greenway are all easily more valuable than Dumba with Foligno being debatable.

If bellows>parise right now, then Lou won’t make the deal. The isles couldn’t score on the powerplay last season and the cap was expected to go up. It makes no sense to make the trade now. Bellows and wahlstrom have filled that hole.

Lou will likely add a rental, someone like palmieri or hall

Hall won't be available, took a slapshot to the face tonight. (ouch) Will be out until his jaw heals which could be a while.

Idk about greenway or foligno being more valuable than dumba. Dumba has really shorts up his defensive lapses this year and hasn’t lost a lot of his offense. He is a much more complete defender now.

A 2022 late (presumably) 1st and 3rd is a pretty disappointing return for Dumba, protect 8 if that's all BG can get. Also John Beecher is a good prospect.

The later BG waits to make a decision the lower the value goes. I think Dumba is worth a 1st and a 3rd... or a 1st and a prospect. I don't like Beecher at all, and really if you read Scott Wheelers take on the Boston prospect pool it is like 29th with no really great prospects. (wasn't high on Beecher either). Protecting only 8 really exposes guys and we need to move Dumba's cap space anyways if we plan on signing everyone.

22m - 8ish to Kaprizov, 6-7m for Fiala, 3 for Eek, possibly another 3 to Hartman who's been a beast... and you still have to fill holes for MarJo, Bonino, Bjugstad, Cole and Hunt. We need that 6m in cap space.

Parise isn't going to waive, especially after how the coach has been treating him. He might wave to be traded, but would have no interest in being shipped out to Seattle and there is a chance (small, but still a chance) that Seattle would grab him to reach the salary cap floor and add a veteran winger who could also Capitan a team. And, you are missing the important part which is we need his 6m in cap space and we have a replacement in Addison.

Best case scenario for the Wild is move Dumba, protect 7-3-1 and get Suter to waive his NMC. They protect:
Parise, Zuc, Fiala, Eek, Greenway, Foligno and Hartman (unless they get back a FWD in the Dumba deal)
Spurg, Brodin, and either Soucy or Mennel

21/22 Wild with Rossi, Addison and Dewar on roster and Greenway to Seattle gets 23 million in space. Wild would need to fill 5 roster spots, 8m x 8 to Kap, 5m x 5 to EEK, 2.5m x 3 to Hartman, 7.5m remaining. Fiala is a bit of a Wild card imo, he's not playing like he should get a 6m x 5 contract right now so maybe a 4.5-5m x 3? Either way 7.5m to sign him and a few fillers on the team doesn't equal WIld "need that 6m in cap space."

I agree that BG would be wise to move Dumba only with a good package coming back, Dumba is playing really well this year. It's not as dire as you make it out to be.

Seattle takes Greenway, Foligno, Hartman, Rask, Sturm, Soucy, Menell or Talbot ..... oh well Seattle will take someone.

I think you need to work on your math a bit. If we use those values that you listed (which I am ok with but don't think Eek gets more than 4-4.5)... you are left with 1m and 6 roster spots to fill. Who's filling in the spots for Greenway, Bjugstad, Bonino, MarJo, Cole and Hunt? Even "fillers" at 1m a piece is 6m. The Wild are in a tight cap situation with all those players playing well. So it is as desperate as I am making it out to be for moving Dumba's 6m. I will say we agree on Fiala, he isn't playing like a 7m player... more like a 5.5-6m player so that one will be tricky.
