Exposed: Eakin (could trade him this year too), Skinner (assuming he waives if they rebuild), Bennet, Rask, Miller
Aside from the Eichel and Reinhart trades, the rest are more about value and the potential caliber of picks/prospects/players they could get in return. Even though Buffalo is terrible they have some players that would have really solid value in trades (Eichel, Reinhart, risto, some expiring contracts in Staal and hall).
Doing something like this would give them a great group of young players to grow together and a bunch of draft picks. They can take powers or Hughes or whatever top dman in the draft this year. They would likely suck again next season and might have a shot at Shane Wright, Brad Lambert, Matthew Savoie to add to this mix. Plus whatever else they get with the other 1sts and 2nds.
This would kind of remind me of where Ottawa is now from selling off Duchene, Karlsson, Stone. Except they would be a little further along than that rebuild with cozens, Quinn, dahlin, mittelstadt already in the system.
Fill out the defense with a few free agent signings. And don’t worry about the contact extensions I gave. They have plenty of cap space so I was just throwing some numbers in to get guys on the roster.
Most Eichel trades decimate other teams prospect pools to the point it doesn’t make sense. Minnesota gives up their top prospect and a 1st and dumba but still have a good prospect group and are then able to protect 7forwards 3d. Rask and dumba make the cap a wash and lazar is a serviceable 4th liner for cheap so they should still be able to manage their cap next season.
Reinhart trade gets Calgary the RW that treliving said they are in the market for. Bennet and Ryan make the cap work. This trade doesn’t have to be with Calgary and could be an off-season trade instead with any team but the value I’d expect for Reinhart is a good prospect and a 1st and maybe a guy to plug a roster spot (could just be someone added in for cap purposes).
I know risto isn’t liked by a lot of people but he is a 26yr old big RHD that plays physical and puts up some points and plays 22-26mins a night. He should be able to return something solid in a trade.
Again dumba trade doesn’t have to be with philly but after the expansion draft he should be able to return a good prospect/young player and a 1st. He has had a good bounce back season after his pectoral injury.
We shouldn't trade Zary RN he was amazing in the AHL. Bennett isn't worth his current contract let alone that one.
I mentioned at the top don’t worry about the contracts I just put numbers in. Bennet probably has a qualifying offer around there is why I put that amount. Not because I think he’s worth it.

I like the creativity around the Eichel/Dumba trades. I'm not sure if NHL GMs have that level of creativity or it's just too difficult to complete.
I think your direction to rebuild (the rebuild) is right. The team ends up with some interesting pieces though I wouldn't consider many of them elite and some valuable cap space.

Ya the difficulty with the Eichel trade is:
1. You don’t know exactly what you will get for Dumba
2. The trade would be before expansion so it doesn’t allow us much time to test the market from other teams on Eichel.
Ya I don’t think they would get any real elite pieces. I think Rossi could be very good but the rest I think you would just get a lot of solid young players and hopefully a couple of them break out into legitimate top 6 guys. The elite guys would probably come from the draft with multiple 1sts.
I don't like this trade with Minnesota. I would definitely build trading on other parts, even if they don't want to trade Kaprizov. Adams has clearly marked the price of Eichel and it doesn't look like this.

What does it look like? Because I’ve never seen any clear prices for eichel come from adams or insiders. I’ve only seen speculation from fans

Well this is just speculation, but Jeff Marek of Sportsnet said he heard about it. When Gorton asked Adams for the price of Eichel, Adams said: Lafreniere + Kakko + 1st. Gorton, of course, didn't do it. I think if there is a trade, the price will be lower in the end, but not by much.

If you’re talking about his interview on spittin chiclets he didn’t say adams and Gorton had that contract but he did say that he didn’t come up with that out of thin air and he had heard the suggestion from someone. That could have been a scout or a lower level person for all we know. Doesn’t indicate that adams has set that price.

That is what it means if it's true. We don't need Dumba at all, he has two years before UFA. We did not take Rossi in the draft and he may have consequences after COVID. The first round will not even be in the top 10. I think this is a very bad deal for Buffalo, the return will be different. Frost also looks strange, so far there is no visible progress on him. In the end, it turns out we are trading for two strange prospects of the center and two late firsts? It's not close.

That’s not at all what it means. It means that marek has heard that trade idea from somebody. That person might be part of the Rangers organization the Sabres organization or neither of their organizations.
If you’re expecting Eichel to get you a 1st overall pick a 2nd overall pick and another 1st round pick then you are going to be very disappointed in the return if he gets traded

Perhaps, but it seems to be true. Such players are rarely traded, but it was before the season, so I wrote that the price might be slightly less, but hardly much less. This package just doesn't even come close. I'm sure Adams would have asked Boldy instead of Rossi, because that is the type of player he would be looking for. And Dumba definitely shouldn't have been in the deal.

Rossi makes more sense than boldy. He is a higher rated prospect and plays a premier position. In any Eichel trade they are going to have to take back some contracts. Dumba can easily be flipped for more prospects. Muzzin went for a 1st and two recent 2nd round guys. Dumba is younger and under contract longer than Muzzin. He would fetch a higher price. It doesn’t have to be frost but he can probably get you a 1st and a recent former 1st round prospect at least.

I think Buffalo fans in general are going to expect way more than they ultimately will get for Eichel WHEN he is traded. A few weeks back I suggested a Wild trade of both 1st's this year, Fiala and Khovanov and was yelled at by a Buffalo fan saying we needed to include Kaprizov. As I told him, I wouldn't trade Kaprizov straight up for Eichel as he look like he could be that good (and with a better attitude).
I'd love to see him come to the Wild, and I do think GMBG planted some seeds with Adam's on that Staal trade which was one sided... but I am not sure it will get done given success of the Wild this year and the cap room needed to make that happen. If the Wild could move Dumba somewhere else, then they'd have the cap space to take Eichel on. I guess we'll see where Jack ends up and for how much in the near future.

Ya I agree. The expectation that they will get laf + or byfield + is unreasonable. If you’re getting the first or second overall pick from last years draft there will not be a boatload of other valuable pieces in the deal.
If Minnesota moves dumba for some assets then maybe they would have some more enticing pieces in an eichel trade rather than having Buffalo get dumba and then having to flip him themselves.

I like Boldy better. Adams did not take Rossi in the draft, but preferred Quinn because of his qualities, Boldy in this regard is also similar to this choice, only he is a LW. Then we would probably pick Beniers in the draft, and next season we would go after Wright or Lambert.

I disagree, Eichel is too good, young and has a long-term contract, he is an elite 1C, such are rarely traded. PLD return Laine + Roslovic. Eichel > PLD and we can get salary back.

And like PLD, once his NMC kicks in next year he will force his way out and you'll get less than you could now. Buffalo's best chance for a good return is before he demands out which WILL happen.

So his NMC will only work from next year, so they are already looking Eichel trade. At least Dreger and Marek have already suggested that Eichel is trading in the summer. It is not yet known who will be the new coach, but if he is appointed a college coach after the season, then this is a serious sign that Eichel will be traded.
