We are definitely suffering from the lack of production of the Danault line. It use to be our main offensive tool... but It can't be relied on this year.
Our D is good on paper, but the first pair is not mobile enough to play against Canadian teams built on speed.
Another aspect that I think might explain some of our difficulties is the fact that that we all play the same 6 teams all the time. MTL is a team that needs a strong system to operate... saddly, while playing only in-division, teams are able to really analyse our system and implement a counter-system.
while on a regular season... teams cannot really implement a system against a team they will see 3 or 4 times in a 82 game schedule. this year... 10 games on 54 is worth it.
You can see all teams that beat the habs use the same thing.... wingers coming down the wing with speed, center is position to tip the puck behind our D. + 2 man pressure on our Dman on the forecheck. Our Defense is not mobile enough (especially Chariot and Weber) to counter it.
While the habs are using a back pass to the D... where our wingers need to stop at the blue line. If we can't enter the zone with possession, we are screwed.
Teams have been implementing a 1 -3- 1 trap against us... which is super effective. That's why most of our chances come from the rush. We can't create offense otherwise.
