This is a really good signing. They probably got a steal here. No he's not a 1C but he'll develop into a solid middle 6 guy.

Out of curiosity what makes you say that?

I've seen him play. He has the speed to keep up, and he isn't scared to use his size. Those two things go far in carving out a role. He's not a top end skill guy. But he'll play you hard.

He's 22 and has 5 points in 14 games. I know points aren't everything, but considering he's 1-2 years older than most players and that's all he produces, that's concerning.

it's not the CHL, points do not come easy in the NCAA. It's much better hockey than what you see in the CHL. Most players come out of the NCAA older, That's what 3-4 years of college does. That's why it's much better hockey than the CHL and the NHL has been flooded with NCAA players the last decade. A record 325 former college players skated in the NHL in 2018-19, comprising 33% of the league. A number that keeps rising.
It really negates what he's done his last two years there.
Fact is this was a highly sought after player. CBJ did good in landing him.
Believe me, there were other teams who would have liked to have signed him.
