The guys who will be unprotected will include: Graves, and two of: Donskoi/Jost/Nichushkin. Nothing they can do about it.

Grubauer too much, Landy too little (Grubauer I reckon 5x5 and Landy 7 x 7.5 so value is the same). Not sure about the bridge for Makar, think they'll try to tie him up long term. Dependent on cap going up or not and other moves they're not necessarily rentals, but cap is far too tight.

They're going to lose somebody in the expansion draft. Even if EJ waives, they lose one of Toews, Girard, Makar or Graves and Graves is likely the odd one out.

Avs need to get rid of him somehow. Avs fans expected more this yr based on past production, this has been a down season. Seems like he's simply more effective at W. Devs could utilize him there, or take a different asset; the Avs have plenty to spare.

I'd rather grubauer than binnington... If he can be a starter for a full season the way he's playing I'd prefer him to markstrom probably

You'll regret giving Landy that much let alone more.

Wingers of his style don't age well. 8 years if put money will bite you

The Skipper will get more I think, that's why I think 7x7.5 regardless of position/aging and that's a pretty team friendly contract to see out his career. I'm not suggesting losing Grubauer, I just think he'll more likely be 5x5.

if anything, he's only become MORE handsome with age. Think David Beckam... His eyes alone are worth $1M

Oh I'm pretty sure you'll end up paying him that.

And I'm pretty sure in 3 years he'll be the next Backes, Ladd, Lucic, etc

He's also overpriced as his offense is inflated by linemates. He owns his two way play, feisty/grittiness, and leadership himself

But pre MacKinnond emergency he was a 20-25 g 55ish pt player. With MacKinnon he's been a 25-30 goal 70ish (injured a bunch so hasn't actually hit that) player.

I don't see you guys not signing him, and I can't see him taking 20-25/55 but good two way money (5-5.5). I'm just saying I strongly suspect it will look bad by 31

For sure, it's possible. Just have to hope he's the 'exception that proves the rule'.

You hope for Oshie or to a lesser degree Foligno. But I think history makes it more likely you get Backes, Okposo, Ladd, Lucic, or erricson (though he was a different style player from the rest)

I won't worry if his skating etc goes. If he can still stand in front of goal deflecting stuff he can become like a fellow Swede. Holmstrom mk2. Probably the only Wing besides Yzerman I could never hate lol.

Anaheim says Yes, but in all honesty, that's at least one player too many. In fact, your esteemed colleague @Richard88 and I have agreed that Timmins plus this year's first is fine for the Ducks. If you need us to take on Compher or Jost as a cap move, we would do that and add something.

Sakic knows he is going to lose somebody, and most importantly he wants it to be cap space that gets taken and with Graves they have Makar, Toews, Girard, Byram, EJ (if healthy), Timmins and McDonald for their d Corp.

Well, I saw another roster saying: Kaut, Timmins, and 1st. Kaut has taken a step back, and will prob be passed by Ranta, so whatevs. Newhook, Bowers, and Sampo Ranta are the Avs three best F prospects rn. Jost was a throw-in to create space and he's my least fav Av. He doesn't have the type of game to excel in the playoffs playing a 4th line role.

I'm thinking more like Dustin Brown, who is still a productive player today. Landy is so versatile, if one area starts to go, he'll still be able to produce in other areas. Ex: he's been taking facoffs on the left side under Bednar, and looked just fine playing C when MacK was out. Realistically, you plan on five more years of top six ability, then deal with the remainder.

Ranta has a long way to go yet, as he hasn't even played pro yet. But the signs are promising.

Kaut may not have had a good start to the year but he's not some throw-in.
